Today on FB a woman I know just had her first grandchild. I know by word of MOUTH that the baby was going to be named Alicia and when I went to congratulate her I simply wrote... "Congratulations on baby Alicia!"
She quickly corrected me... "Thank you so much! Her name is spelled Aleighsha BTW.
I quickly changed my comment to just plain ol' congratulations and felt like a fool for assuming any name would ever be spelled correctly. How is a spelling like this even thought of?
Dear Lord.

Re: Embarrassed myself on FB
All I can think of is how that poor little girl is going to feel in kindergarten when she has to learn how to spell/write her name!
This is one of those names that, when I hear it, I never know how it's going to be spelled.
Growing up, I knew a girl or girls named
Alisha
Alesha
Elisha
Alicia
Alecia
All were pronounced the same.
I don't think these are as bad as Aleighsha, but inconsistencies still confuse me.
ETA: I think there was an Aleesha too. Eek.
