Random - 1st B-day Party (4legs)

I am trying to start planning for H's 1 year birthday in 2.5 months (WHAT???) but have no idea where to even start. It will be family only so it isn't really a huge deal but I have seen the cutest, sweetest birthday invitations and decorations in the past, however, now that it is my turn, I am kind of blah about it. We don't really have anything special for a theme besides the Muppets (that's what we called him in utero) but none of it is super cute so I am second guessing myself.

I'll stop rambling - my question is how did you draw your inspiration for your LO's theme at 1?

#1 IUI: 1/18/12 = BFN

M&W born at 37 weeks on 9/18/14 - I am the momma of 3 boys!!!

    OMG you are planning his birthday party. This is amazing. I am so excited.

    Okay so we did giraffes (which you know) because all of J's favorite things were giraffes. He had his Sophie, his favorite stuffed animal was a giraffe, his favorite Little People toys were the giraffes, etc. So I went onto Pinterest and typed in giraffe birthday party and all this great stuff came up. So I pinned the stuff I liked, bought some of the Etsy stuff I saw on Pinterest, found a cake I liked and sent it to a baker who said she could do it, and it all flowed from there. I got a lot of the decorations from Etsy and I made a couple of things. But basically everything was an idea I got from Pinterest after I decided on giraffes. And everything was amazing. Let me know if you need anything! I love party planning!!!

    Thanks, my love! The giraffes were awesome! His nursery design is elephants (I collect those myself) so I thought of doing a "big top" theme but that seems kind of overdone...

    I feel so lost and overwhelmed :(

    I don't think a big top theme would be overdone! I've never seen or been to a big top party! And there would be so many cute things you could do! J has a play tent from IKEA that is an actual big top that was like $25. If you get some of those plastic balls, you throw those in there and it's a big top ball pit! I'm on a roll!!

    That's what I did last year for a Pumpkin Patch theme.  It was so cute! This year it's Doodlebops- they are not my thing, but they are DSs so we'll go with that.  I'm just doing cheesy kiddy things this year.

    I am on the same boat as you, yet Jackson's is a month away and I haven't even ordered invitations. :-O But there has been a FB announcement to Save the Date.. I wish I was one of those crafty Mom's who loves to create her own things.

    I love and collect elephants, too! I absolutely love the idea of a Big Top theme for his birthday party! Get thee to Pinterest, woman, and I am sure you will find a TON of stuff for a Big Top themed party. Keep us posted-  I have to start planning soon, too!

    So fun! My son will be 1 on December 26th so I guess I have to start thinking about it too especially because of its proximity to christmas/travel plans.

    I cat decide if I should do something totally different than a winter/snowman theme or if I should do it now because as he gets older he will likely want something entirely different from the winter/Xmas thing. Holiday bdays are hard!

    I kind of think you should do your theme, I hear by 3 they know exactly what they want and you can't talk them out of it! That, and it sounds beautiful! Yeah, December will be here before we know it!!
