We have to give up one of our furbabies. Back when our nanny started working for us, within a couple of days of he bit both her and her son. Two separate instances. No skin broken but obviously bad news bears. We've had a trainer out twice and everything seemed to be going great for the past 9 or so months. Then today he bit DS in the face. Nothing major like no doctor's visit or ER visit necessary but he did leave a mark on his eyelid where he got him. Obviously we've tried to rehabilitate him and do the best we can but clearly this is going to keep happening; he's obviously just not comfortable around kids. We did adopt him from a bad situation (he was dumped with his litter in a cardboard box and left in someone's yard, then driven up in a van all the way from Texas because the shelter there didn't have room for him, all within the first couple months of his life) and we've had issues with him on and off...anxiety related always. Obviously he gets nervous around kids and clearly this is not OK and I'm already kicking myself that I didn't listen to my instincts the first time, but I certainly won't ignore them this time.
We are under contract to give him back to the shelter we got him from, which I hate the idea of, but it is a no kill shelter so that's the only reassuring aspect of this whole process. My heart is breaking to think about dropping him back off. He won't know what happened or what he did wrong. He'll just be sitting there in a cage all day wondering when we are going to get him. And there's nothing I can do about it.

Re: T&Ps if you please (not PAL related)
I am so sorry. That's never an easy situation and of course as much as you wish you could keep him there are reasons on why it's not worth it. I wish sometimes you could have a real life conversation with our animals to help them understand why you are upset or why things are happening.
I am glad nothing serious happened to DS. I am sure it scared him and of course the mark is sad all on its own. Good to hear the shelter is a no kill one.
((hugs)
