Anyone had an US tech guess at less than 15 weeks?

We had our NT scan today and told our US tech we were going at 15 weeks to get a gender scan...she then said "I can take a good guess if you want me to?" and she showed us the "nub" and guessed boy.  I saw it and it was pointing up but curious if anyone had theirs guess wrong at 13-14 weeks?

  • I personally don't take any guesses before 17 weeks. This early its really just a big guess.

  • I clearly have no idea what I am talking about, but last wk at my 12 wk u/s the tech got a shot right in between the baby's legs and it looked identical to my daughter's 16 and 19 wk u/s pics.  I will be shocked if this baby is a boy.  I know there is always a good chance of being wrong that early, but I feel pretty confident.

  • My tech guessed boy as well when I was almost 13 weeks. It seems like all the early guesses are for boy which makes me say hmmmmmm???? I think all babes look like boys that early, right?

  • Our NT scan was Monday. The tech guessed boy. I was 12w6d.

  • I asked the tech last week at 12 weeks if it was to early to tell (me knowing it was) but she said "yeah it sorta is but my guess is a girl...85% sure. I will be surprised if its not." I didn't want to as because I didn't want her to say girl and get my hopes up. I have two boys and this will be our last.
  • @Melbee12 do you have a US pic to post from this last US?
  • I do but none show the "dangle" lol...wonder why she didn't include it on our CD?  Oh well.  It's only a week until my 15 week ultrasound to confirm anything...and I personally know the owner of the ultrasound studio who will be doing my gender scan so I totally trust her.  She said she's only ever been wrong once in 15 years and it could be due to the fact that they weren't confirming people were 15 weeks yet.  She was adamant that 15 weeks was the earliest they would do a gender scan and pretty much guarantee they were right and if they were unsure, they would have you come back in a week or two.

  • She said now they do a femur length to confirm gestational age before they'll guarantee the gender they tell you.  If you're less than 15 weeks, they'll make you come back.

  • My US tech guessed girl at 11 weeks 4 days. I would think this is too early to guess for sure.
  • I found out with both of mine at 15 weeks and they were both correct, it is very obvious by then. No guess at 12 weeks.
  • I have two pictures that show the "dangle" I don't have Internet at my home right now and not sure if I can upload a pic from my phone. I have looked at those pictures and compared them with ones on the Internet. Some of them that say boy and was confirmed a boy later on, can tell the difference big time. Then I come across some that were confirmed boy and they look just the same as mine ha ha I won't find out until day before Thanksgiving :(
  • At my NT scan she said she will give us and "educated guess" and said its a boy. But she doesn't want us going out and buying stuff until we find out for sure witch will be on the 30th of this month. I'm dying to find out!
  • At 17 weeks he said he would bet on his life that it would be a boy. The next appointment we got an ultrasound and he said it's a girl! I thought he was kidding. He didn't even remember he told us the sex. so he looked at his chart and it said a boy. This was a week before my baby shower!! The invitations were blue and said baby Aiden on it. I had to call everyone and tell them it was actually a girl. Then i had to take all of the boy stuff off the registry.

  • My sister had a UTI and some bleeding at 12 1/2 weeks. She was sent to the er. They did an ultrasound and the tech said it was definitely a boy. She was right.

  • I had the NT scan and my tech guessed boy. I was a day or two away from being 14 weeks. What do you ladies think?
  • I was 14 weeks on Monday but My baby measured 14 wks 5 days & she knows whether it's a prince or princess she put it on a disk for us to find out what it is. There was no guessing she said and she does her gender test no sooner than 14 weeks and has not been wrong yet at what she sees
  • I am 12w and the tech guessed girl (60% confident). Let's see.

I have nothing to base my guess of off.....but I wanted to let you know you should probably crop or edit your pic so all your information isn't visible! We do still get some crazies ;)

Haha yeah I actually just realized that, then read your post. I don't have a clue how to edit it now its been posted is my problem...
  • The doctor has guessed at my 12 weeks scan I'll have a boy, but said it's too early to be sure.
I did a little informal statistics among friends, colleagues and aquaintances, and they said when they say it's a boy, it's probably true, when they don't/can't understand, it's probably a girl. Still have to wait three weeks to know for sure. And anyway I was not going to buy boy's stuff this early anyway!

  • At 12 weeks my doctor seemed very sure. It`s a strong boyish position for penis . :D

  • At 14 weeks 2 days my tech guessed girl, saying "no sign at all of boy parts" she was pretty confident. She said she has no problem seeing boy parts at this stage. That being said, she still wants me to confirm around 18 weeks at the anatomy scan.

At our 12 weeks ultrasound DH swore that he saw girl parts.... but he also thought the umbilical cord was a penis at the beginning of the ultrasound so I'm not putting any stock in that.

  • At my 15 week ultrasound, the tech said that she doesn't like to guess. But she said that my baby's "girl parts" are very destinct already! So I have faith in her! She was right my last pregnancy when she guessed girl at 14 weeks!
  • Mine guessed girl at 12 weeks, but showed us a frontal view with what I'm guessing was the "fork" that people talk about. She didn't make any mention of nubs and we couldn't see anything from the side view. I guess we will find out in a few weeks.
  • At 12 weeks my tech guessed boy. I will let you all know next week i(hopefully) f that was true or not!

  • With my son, they guessed boy at 12 weeks. And yes, at 20 weeks he was all boy :) With this pregnancy, I had three ultrasounds in two weeks due to some complications in getting measurement for the NT scan and neither of the U/S techs would give me a guess this early. I've heard they 'guess' more often with a boy that early, because boys are much easier to identify at 12/13 weeks.
