Hi ladies, I haven't posted in a while but this whole solid food thing brings up so many questions for me! My almost 8 month old DD took a little while to get into solids when we started around 6 months, but now really enjoys them. The only problem is that she doesn't like any green vegetables. As a fairly adventurous eater myself (besides being a semi-vegetarian who doesn't eat meat or poultry), I am a little disappointed that it looks like she is going to be a picky eater. I continue to offer her peas, green beans, broccoli and carrots periodically and mix it in with the veggies she does like (which at this point are only sweet potatoes and squash) but I'm wondering if there is any hope that eventually she will start to like these things? Any STMs have experiences with that? Also any suggestions of any other vegetables I can try? I try to do a veggie at dinner time and just feel like I would like to branch out from sweet potatoes and squash.
My other question is about finger food. I have started to try to introduce it to her, but she really doesn't seem interested/doesn't get it. I have given her avocado, squash, tofu, cantaloupe and banana diced up very small as well as puffs, and she will play with them, but even though every thing else that she plays with goes into her mouth, she doesn't seem to get or want to put these things in her mouth. I have put little pieces into her mouth to show her (though this seems to defeat the purpose of finger food so I'm not sure if that's helping) but often times she just spits it out. I feel like my daughter is doomed to be eating purees forever! Any suggestions of how to help her figure this out?
