Hi All --- So we bought my 2yr old son a monkey costume for Halloween, and he absolutely hates it. I was looking for something that he would be somewhat comfortable in that doesn't involve a hat or a hood, as that appears to be the part he doesn't like. I didn't see anything I like, so I thought I'd ask you all. We just inherited a really cute navy blue velvet suit jacket that is just ridic cute, so I was thinking we could incorporate that somehow? We also have stuff like overalls, etc -- I am not a great sewer, so simple would be best. Any ideas?
Re: DIY 2yr old Halloween Costume Idea
Farmer or train conductor should be doable with the overalls. You just need the right hat to match. I know he is small but does he like soccer or a sports team? A baseball player or soccer player is an easy costume with no hood or hat (maybe a ball cap). Could you turn that navy blue jacket into a police officer jacket? You can pick up some accessories like a hat, badge and walkie talkie or even a flashlight for him to carry.
*I would maybe do something like dress him in his pajamas and buy him a cape - super hero!
*To use the vest, maybe dress him up like a ventriloquist dummy?
*Cut a hole in a pillowcase for his head to go through (so it isn't covered) and he can be a ghost (white face paint optional)
*I think my brother was a hobo on more than one occasion - and this would work since you have an older daughter. Put him in a pair of her pants (too big) held up with suspenders, give him a little stick with bandana tied on, and "dirty" his face up (my brother liked black eyes made with mom's makeup)
