Monitor

Hey, I'm almost 38 weeks and we are still trying to decide on a video monitor. We are looking at a couple Motorola's, but we just can't decide. Do you have a monitor that you love/hate. Need some recommendations. I don't want to spend $250 on junk or on a monitor that breaks in 3 months

Re: Monitor

  • Our network is secure, I know there are crazy people out there that could probably hack it , but the average crazy person could not. I think it's safer than using a monitor that uses radio frequency. But that is one of the reasons I wanted to ask around.

  • We have, still use and love our Foscam. It's actually a security camera, but it works great, has almost 360 degree rotation, night vision, zoom, two way audio. It can be monitored on any smartphone, tablet, computer, etc. It was $100, you can get them on Amazon but you get a longer warranty if you buy directly from their site (that's what we did).

  • We use the motorola and really like it.
  • We have a Uniden security set, not called a baby set, but we love it. Over time we've expanded it. Now that was have two girls, we have three cameras, each in different places, but all tied to same monitor. They have worked really well for us.

  • Love the monitor from apple. Ibaby I think it's called? I can see my baby on my iphone anywhere in the country. My husband can see the baby off his iPhone when he's at work. I also love the Motorola.
  • We used an audio-only Angle Care until DS1 graduated to a big boy bed at 2 years old. Then we got the video system. IMHO video monitors aren't strictly necessary for young babies.

  • We had a Summer brand one. It lasted 21mos till it finally stopped producing sound but would still light up when DS1 cried. DH accidentally kneeled on it with all his force this past spring and that killed the screen, which meant no video. But DS was old enough that we were okay with it. Now with DS2 just arriving, I wish we had a video. I sleep so much better if I can see him without waking him.

  • I have Motorola and love it! I just had baby #2 and all you do is add another camera and now I can watch both my babies. I have 2u2 so I like just having one base with multiple cameras in different rooms. Video monitors are absolutely the best when you start to sleep train. You can watch them and make sure they are ok without always going in room.

We have this too and it's great!

  • DH wanted to get the Motorola monitor, but at our baby shower we received the Babies R Us video monitor and it works fine. We've had no problems with it. It did take DH a little bit to get the camera mounted and angled since we have no dresser next to the crib, but it works fine :)

  • We were given a Babies R Us video monitor and it's still working perfectly fine. We thoroughly enjoy it :)
