Tantrum for mom? Possible?

My 7 month old has an ear infection which has been treated for 3 days already and possibly teething. He has been throwing what looks to be a tantrum every night so far is week. He screams and kicks and cries and throws himself around, it seems like a painful cry because he's so loud and he seems so mad. He seems to on,y do this when I'm with him and in he middle of the night.. I hear from daycare and MIL that he's so good during the day.. Is it possible for a 7 month old to throw tantrums? If so.. Any idea on why it seems to only be with me? Anyone think something else could be wrong?

Re: Tantrum for mom? Possible?

  • I agree with above poster...teething and ear infections are worse at night.  As well, even the youngest of babies are more comfortable with mom and will act differently.  Your baby is possibly just expressing how they feel in the comfort of your presence and during day with others is not as comfortable to express those emotions so appears happy and calm.

I would not say it is a tantrum.  Tantrums are a way for older children to get what they want when they are not getting their way.  A 7 month old is not that aware yet.

Give extra hugs and cuddles and sooth baby as best you can.  It takes awhile for ear infections to clear...and well teething can seemingly last forever!
