There is such a thing called silent reflux. Is the pedi concerned about his weight gain?
She is a little concerned with it. I have tried AR and it helped for a little but not so much now.

Silent reflux is reflux with the absence of spitting up.
OP, I use Born Free bottles which are supposed to help like Dr. Browns, but with less parts and more like the breast. I don't FF, but one of my BFFs use the Enfamil Gentleease to help with spit up.
Given the spitting up and low weight gain- I'd be talking to the pedi about reflux and trying him on Zantac. It can take up to 2 weeks to notice a difference, but it's better than doing nothing.

My apologies-- I don't know why, but I read that as he only weighs 5 lbs at 5 months old. That's why I was hoping it was a typo. Looking back now, I don't know why I misunderstood.
We use Dr. Browns and noticed improvements when we switched. Something else that really helped was switching to premmie nipples to slow the flow down as well. We still use level 1 nipples and DS is 5months, he has a strong suck and with a high flow nipple he was getting too much at once which created gas and reflux.

My son was spitting up quite a bit and sometimes even 2 hours after he ate. I even took him to his doctor because I thought he had reflux issues. She said the amount he was spitting up was normal and his weight gain was right on track she said I am probably over-feeding him. I cut back about an ounce from what I was giving him and have noticed a huge difference! He hardly spits up at all now. I was definitely over-feeding him. I also use slow flow nipples because he has a strong suck. So maybe try cutting back on how much you are feeding and if you aren't using a slow flow nipple try switching that as well.
Our FF baby did eat from the DrB's bottles with the Playtex slow flow nipple. We compared what was coming out of level 1 Dr nipples to the Playtex and when you have a baby that spits up a considerable amount it matters. Once hitting 3 months pedi recommended adding 1 tbsp. per ounce but we quickly realized the Drs bottles were not going to work beccuase the inside part of the bottle would not let the cereal pass through. We switched to PlaytexVenAire and a Medium Flow Nipple. He still spits up of course but not large amounts.
Has your pedi mentioned cereal to thicken formula?
