Signs that baby is entering toddlerhood

edited October 2013 in October 2012 Moms
Everyday Olivia is acting more like a toddler than a baby. She has bruises on her forehead from attempting to climb up on everything. She tells me what what she wants by pointing and saying "that" so I don't have to guess. She want's to practice walking everywhere instead having me carry her around. Also, she has a longer attention span when playing. What signs have you seen that your baby is turning into a toddler? Also, When do you think they become a toddler? When they turn 1 or when they can walk unassisted? In my opinion it's when they have done both.

  • Ashley is stated to get a little fussier when I take something away.

  • I'd say Ella is a toddler, she's not fully walking yet but boy will she climb up everything and anything! She only seems to like 'our' food now, she will let me feed her the odd applesauce but the rest she wants to do on her own. She gives kisses, highfives, claps and waves in her own special way :) it's so neat how her brain is changing and I actually notice it all this time round. My first 3 were within 5 years of each other so I didn't feel I paid attention to these things unfortunately.

I wish my LO would get fussy - he now simply screams and cries.  When I pick him up he arches his back.  Sigh... so the tantrum starts.

  • I'm enjoying watching them get bigger and do some things independently! Usually, getting them out of the crib, changing diapers, and wrestling two lumps of baby up the stairs is a hassle... but now they crawl out of the bedroom and up the steps on their own with me following behind. Much, much easier! It's become part of our morning routine now.

Yeah my DD also screams and arches her back when she has her tantrums. She's also started throwing her her head back and I'm really scared she's going to hurt her head one of these days.

  • I just paid the toddler rate at daycare instead of the infant rate for this week. Can't believe it! I also thought of toddlers at being 3 years old

LO does the same thing! When he throws a tantrum he will throw his head back and sometimes he hits it pretty hard on the carpet. He has a hard head though just like his daddy.
