Things are going well for me!  I've been doing my exercise every night and I've been eating well :) I don't necessarily know if I'm losing much weight but I'm more concerned about overall well-being.  @ball.and.chain I saw your suggestion for the kale.  I used a giant handful when I made my smoothie, and I didn't blend it very well.  I pulsed it until I thought it couldn't get any smaller but I read you're supposed to do it for a full minute.  Woops!  Well, I sauteed it in olive oil and garlic.  Turned out just fine as a side for dinner last night.  I tried to make DP eat some but she wasn't having it.  She thinks I'm crazy but I'd rather munch on kale to know I'm getting the nutrients than not.  I do eat a wide variety of other fruits/veggies but everyone's been telling me about the magic power of kale so I'm trying to fit it in more regularly.

Edit: forgot my QOTW!  I admire Oprah Winfrey.  I know that sounds silly and cliche, but that woman worked her ass off starting at the bottom and became one of the most influential women in the world.  I can't even imagine how hard she worked to get to where she is now.  Makes me feel lazy! lol

  • Things are good here. We took a trip north to check out the fall colors and despite being on the road for a week, we managed to eat very well! Instead of our usual processed snacks, we bought a veggie tray and I brought organic grapes. We're on our way.

  • From a health and wellness perspective things are going pretty well. The building that M and I live in now (just moved 9 days ago) has a beautiful indoor pool. The last three nights we have gone swimming. We swim some laps, tread water, do aqua fit type activities. It is good fitness work and it is so nice to have an easy, free activity that gets us out of our apartment but that is low key enough that we feel like doing it regularly, even when we're tired. I hope we keep it up.

And this morning I took the dog on what turned into an awesome hike. There were no dogs in the dog park at our apartment when I took frannie out this morning, so I decided to go see how far away the road down into the trail system behind our apartment was. It was a 10 minute walks to the road and then a 10 minute walk down the road. Since I was expecting a casual stroll, I didn't bother going back to the apartment to change and just wore the not great for hiking jeans I was in. But when we got to the bottom of the road, I found a mountain bike trail through the woods (instead of the paved trail through the clearing that I was expecting we'd take) and so I let Frannie off leash. We hiked for an hour plus the walk down there and the climb back (I took a never-trying-it-again short cut up the steep hill to get out of the ravine on the way back). All in all, we had an hour and a half of good, mostly relatively strenuous walking and hiking. Dog is pooped and so am I.

Also, M and I have started a 4 week challenge for ourselves to together lose 4% of our combined body weight. (We can each lose 4% of our own weight or one can lose more and make up for the other losing less.) It is fun to have a goal together. We get a new set of towels if we make it!

QOTW: My mom. She has always worked super hard to provide financially for our family and make sure we all know we're loved and taken care of. For the last few years she has been recovering from a brain injury. I know life is not easy for her since that but she keeps working hard (both in terms of paid employment but also in terms of thinking about and caring for the people she loves).
    ****loss discussed*****

We're queer. I'm 33, have severe stage 4 endo, and had both fallopian tubes removed. My love ("Manada" on the boards, 32) was diagnosed with diminished ovarian reserve. We did Partner IVF (my eggs, her uterus). We lost our twins Tavin and Casey at 21 weeks gestation.

    Our IUIs
with @Manada: IUI# 1-7 (December 2012- September 2013) all BFN. Tried natural, femara, clomid, puregon/follistim, clomid and menopur combo, both the ovidrel and HCG triggers.

    Our IVFs:
IVF #1 my eggs November/December 2013: Cancelled IVF due to poor response

    IVF #2 my eggs/Manada's uterus January/February 2014
BCPs and lupron overlap Stimmed: 1/22-2/2: Bravelle and Menopur (dosage ranged from B300 and M150 to B375 and M150 to B300 and M225)
2/4 retrieved 10 eggs. Endo was much worse than expected. Only 3 eggs fertilized; February 7 transferred two day 3 embryos, froze one. All great condition.
    BFP eve of 6dp3dt; Beta 1 (11dp3dt): 110; Beta 2 (13dp3dt): 175; Beta 3 (15dp3dt): 348; Beta 4 (19dp3dt): 2222; Beta 5 (21dp3dt): 4255
    1st ultrasound (3/6  6w 1d): TWINS!!!! Twin A measuring 6w1d with a heartbeat of 118bpm. Twin B measuring 6w0d with a heartbeat of 113bpm.

***July 18, 2014 we lost our beautiful babies at 21 weeks gestation. They were born too early. Tavin Sara T. and Casey Elizabeth T. are beautiful and precious and we will love them and miss them forever.***

    FET #1 December 2014
Intralipid infusion on Dec 10. Transfer of 1 day 3 nine-cell embryo into my uterus on Dec. 19. (acupuncture immediately before and after)
    BFP on Dec. 27; Beta 1 Jan 2 (14dp3dt): 665, Beta 2 Jan 4 (16dp3dt): 1859, Beta 3 Jan 6 (18dp3dt): 4449, Beta 4 Jan 10 (22dp3dt): 12,251.

  • Hi all! Wednesdays are weigh-in day and therapy day for me, so it happens to be a good day for the health check in. I ate a ton of food over the weekend (taco lunch + date night + drinks with friends + mild hangover + friend's birthday brunch) but kept it together on the weekdays and am up less than a pound, which doesn't feel that bad given the major food bender that happened. I think I may be turning a corner with my hip, and my PT said I can go down to 1x week (I've been doing 2x week thus far). We also started doing therapy for my foot and it has been holding up. I skipped a couple of days with C+B and then had trouble sleeping last night, which tends to be anxiety-related with me, so I am getting back on the C+B horse tonight. My mammogram results came back normal -- woo hoo!

QOTD: My sister has had a hip/tailbone issue going on for two-three years, causing chronic pain and keeping her from being able to do a lot of the things she enjoys (hiking, biking, triathlons, etc). They don't really know what caused it, how to fix it or when it will stop. She sees a specialist regularly, has been going to PT 2x a week for over a year, and recently got a pain therapist. Through it all she has remained very focused on working through her issues and getting better, even though I think anyone else would have given up a long time ago. While I can't say she always has a positive attitude about it (who would?), I admire that she hasn't given up on the situation.
