Babies on the Brain

can i start a new POSITIVE discussion(trrrrying to get pregnant)

I know my last post was confusing, and I really don't want to rehash that.

Long story short my SO and I agreed to go off bc. It's more of a "let's see what happens" kind of thing...but we are both actively trying. He and I both are able to travel together. We have been trying to conceive for a couple months.... I will include I had a fallopian tube removed in my teens. I also had cysts on my left ovary and it was removed

We have been trying for a couple months... I'm getting frustrated.

  • I have more important things to do today, than listen to your BS. I need to debate my stance on pro-vaxibg

  • I look forward to taking  pregnancy test.. I get excited hoping we get get a "positive or pregnant"reading....yet so far it hasn't happened. I've tried calculation of my cycle...I'm not sure if I'm calculating right....
  • Well apparently you don't! Because here you are love muffin!!!
  • Is there a question here?

Have you been charting, using OPKs trying?  Or just having sex without protection trying?

  • I have an app on my phone that is supposed to "chart" my ovulation but to be honest I don't think it's on point
  • It would be less frustrating if you knew what your body is doing. I would suggest checking out the popular fertilityfriend.com website and app. I just came off BCP and i already anticipated that my body would be kinda crazy but charting has assured me that everything is/will be working properly again.

It will give you a fertile window and will take the guessing out of the equation.

Hope this website helps you and best of luck!

No result means not ovulating.  Listen to @crazycornball, you have ALOT to learn.  If you don't want to learn it all, then maybe try the "sperm meets egg plan" to guide you through.  Google it, don't ask what it is here.

  • I am all for learning! When I did the strip tests I just didn't have a distinct line in either side but yes! I am willing to learn!
  • I suggest buying THIS book to learn all about your fertility and to help explain the uses/benefits of charting/temping.
  • A couple of months is nothing.

Learn about charting. Or have sex every other day like clockwork until you get a BFP. But it can take a healthy, normal couple up to one year to conceive. My OB doesn't want to refer anyone to RE until they've been charting consistently for 12 months if they are under 35. Over 35 and it's 6 months.

Get a basal body temp (mine is from amazon) and learn to chart. There is a learning curve but by month 3 I understood what was going on.

That app is crap. It has no idea what your body is doing.

This. Unless you at least entering your BBT each day, this app has no clue. Read the fertility friend website, (that app is helpful) and get a BBT thermometer and chart your temps. Everyone's body is different so unless your entering this type of info, that app is useless

  • I started using the "My Days" app a LONG time ago while still on BCP just to track my 'periods' so I would have an answer when I got to the Dr's office. I used to take it continuously, skipping sugar pills and would occaisionally give myself a break which made it really hard to recall my last cycle when the doc asked.
This app really serves as a diary for your cycle, allows you to take notes, record temp, set predictions for period & ovulation to automatic or manual. It is a free app (I think) and even includes a chat room where other users can exchange feedback.

As for your 1st posting.... I was confused by the title and immediately panicked worried about the onslaught of snarkiness doomed to head your way. After reading, I agree you chose a poor title as the decision to "pull the goalie" was clearly arrived to through mutual awareness and communication of your intent. Immediately I think of the discussion my DH and I had Friday night (see separate post).
#1 - because you have a history of risk factors that could potentially impact your fertility - did you consult with your Dr on these issues when you had the IUD removed? Some recommend "preconception" appointments for those with health histories that may cause concern and these areas should have been addressed at that appointment.

#2 - if you havent already - start charting & even purchase ovulation test kits so you can better adjust the prediction settings (or turn them off) on your tracking app.

Good luck TTC, I hope you don't stress too much!

  • I was also using an app when gearing up for TTC and then when we actually started. FF had a lot more analysis features and takes into account past cycles in a bigger way. Def check out FF. Good luck!
  • I use Ovuline.  It's great if you have irregular cycles because it predicts ovulation instead of just confirming that it happened because of BBT bump.  It doesn't just do the crappy "fourteen days from the start of your period" prediction; it actually takes into account your cycles, BBT, CM, mood, physical symptoms, etc.  The interface is really easy to use and their predictions have been right on for me, even though my cycles are still a bit wonky.
  • Why are her post the never ending story?

  • Why are you ladies on here so mean and snarky?? I came here because I heard bad things about this site but thought seriously it can't be that bad... But it is??
