Re: ****** 2nd trimester check in 10/8/13*******

  • Happy birthday to me....it hasn't really felt like my birthday today at all! I'm over 18 weeks and feel a little movement but still not much. Qotw: I'm looking for a vaccine friendly doctor. I don't want unnecessary vaccines....I'm not really even sure how this all works. People interview doctors? When is there time for that on both my side and theirs? I'm curious to read all the answers....

  • This week I'm 24 week, yikes! 6 months has brought me the worlds worst heartburn and exhaustion. Just had all my appts yesterday (cardiologist, mfm, ob) baby Nia still has het vsd. All else looks normal. F/u appts in a month, thereafter Will be every two weeks.
I have began to search for a pediatrician. I'm specifically looking for a doc that knows a little bit aabout the babys heart condition, and isn't completely clueless about it.
TTC Since 112010 Naturally. Diagnose:PCOS(ME) + Low Motility(HIM). Started IVF+ICSI Cycle 12312. ER 27 & ET 210 two embies transferred. *BFN 1ST IVF CYCLE.* **Getting as healthy as possible and will try IVFICSI#2 again hopefully in April.** -- HAVE FAITH; LET GO & LET GOD --
  • Hi everyone, I'm 25 weeks today and my belly has certainly popped! I see the OB on Friday with my main question being if I'm gaining enough weight. Though my appetite has kicked up for sure!

QOTW: I have not yet started to look though there are really two main offices I want to interview. I wasn't sure if it was too early to start this process but I guess I better get going...
Me:30 low AMH; DH:30 MFI (count, motility, morphology)
2 rounds clomid 100 mg -BFN
    IUI#1- 25 mg clomid- July 2012= BFN!
    IUI #2 August = BFN!
    IUI #3 September = BFN!

IVF #1 November - converted to IUI #4 due to poor response = BFN
IVF #1.2 February- converted to IUI #5 due to poor response = BFN
    IVF #1.3 April- micro dose Lupron flare with HGH; 14R, 13M, 11F! Transfer of 1 day 5 blast on 4/30, 4 frosties. BFP! Beta #1 9dp5dt= 179; Beta #2 11dp5dt= 442; Beta #3 4106 Stick baby stick!!

    *trying to keep hope*

  • Hi ladies :) update: 19 weeks knocking on the door, a/s next Wednesday, it will be difficult to avert my gaze so I don't accidentally have the sex revealed. QOTW: really happy with our pediatrician but did not find that interviewing ahead of time helped in my case. I just found a good fit over time & someone who worked well with me & my LOs.

  • Hi ladies! I am 23 weeks now. The girls have been kicking and I can feel them getting stronger! I've been having BH contractions, but they aren't painful, just tight and strange feeling. On Monday my belly sort if changed shape, the whole bump moved down. I'm guessing the girls must have just changed positions. I go to the MFM today (fx for baby b to be catching up to baby a!) and then to my OB tomorrow.

QOTW: I have not researched pediatritions and I probably won't bother. We are under Tricare insurance because DH is in the Army so we will just be assigned to a pediatrition. Decisions about care are pretty by the books across military clinics so no matter who we see its likely to be pretty much the same. I know if we really don't like who we end up with we can request "someone" else, but whether or not that request can be honored is subject to availability at the time. As far as I know we can't request a specific doctor.

  • 23 weeks today!   Can't wait to make it one more week until 24!  Aaaahhh- it's starting to become a LOT more real that I may actually end up with two babies in a few months.   We had a fetal echo done yesterday and both babies hearts looked perfectly normal.   The estimated weights were 1lb3oz and 1lb5oz - which is crazy to me!   I feel great too - although I got woken up by a leg cramp last night.   We are really pressing forward with the nursery and there will be cribs arriving any day now - and I hope to put them together this weekend.

QOTW:  I've looked into a few in my area and asked a few of my friends that live nearby where they go.  I plan to contact the main one for a visit and if we like it we are going to go there - I need to ask about how they handle twin appts., etc.   I have to say they sold me on their website when they said they will not see you if you choose to NOT vaccinate your child - you'll have to find another Dr.

  • Hi, ladies! Hope everyone is doing well!

I'm 20 weeks, and things are going well. Our a/s last week looked perfect, and my SCH is finally gone! I'm feeling lots of movement and kicks - he would not settle down last night, so funny. My bump has finally started to show, and I'm transitioning into maternity clothes.

Oh, and @jezebel57 can you add that we are team blue? Thanks! :)

QOTW: In my area, if you want one of the popular pediatricians you have to set up an appointment WAY in advance. I made a pre-birth appointment when I was about 8 weeks, and it's coming up at the end of October. She is the pedi for my nephews and some friends' children, so I have an idea of what to expect. I'm just glad we got in!

    Hi Ladies,
I'm 22w5d today.  Still feeling good.  No appts. this week.  I thought my check up was this Friday, but like Jez, I can't tell one day from the next anymore since I've stopped working (in this case, week).

DH just came down with a stomach bug of some sort and has been violently ill since last night.  Neither of us has had our flu shot yet since we first wanted to talk to OB at next visit about why he doesn't believe in getting them.  I hope I'm not doomed to catch this.  :-(

QOTW: We haven't interviewed any yet, but OB said he'd give me some recommendations when the time is right. (His answer for everything...like birth classes at hospital...he's so laid back for an MD).

ETA: What I'm looking for is a doctor that doesn't overprescribe just because the pharma companies pressure him/her to.  I'm all for antibiotics if deemed necessary, but I'm not inclined to see a doctor who writes a scrip just because a mother asks for one.

  • Hello!  I'm just over 18 weeks and have started to feel some movement, which is pretty cool.  Our anatomy scan is Monday and I can't wait to find out what we're having and confirm that everything is going well!
Our friend gave us a pediatrician recommendation and it's actually who my OB uses for her own kids, too, so we'll probably go with them.  I really like that they come to the hospital we're delivering at after the baby is born.  Most of the doctors in my town are affiliated with hospitals that are closer by, so it's nice to find someone in our town who is affiliated with our hospital (which is still not far away, about 20-25 minutes).
I don't know when I'm supposed to call them - 18 weeks seems pretty early.  Any advice?

  • hi wonderful ladies!  i'm 23 weeks 1 day today and had a great fetal echo this morning.  both babies have normal looking hearts with no defects seen.  yay!  i, on the other hand, am having palpitations daily (several times per day) and seeing my cardiologist this afternoon for hopefully some answers and to calm me down a bit.  i have a growth and fluid check next tuesday and can't wait to see how big they are now. :)

qotw:  i have 3 friends who go to this ped. who is a sole practitioner and love him (one of the friends has twins).  i'm going to call next week and schedule an appointment just to ask a few questions before they are born, but will be more like an info session, not an interview as i am positive i want him!  i'm a little nervous about him being a sole practitioner but heard he is just amazing so hope that will outweigh any issues for when he is on vaca or sick and has someone else cover for him.  i'm mostly interested in his stance on vaccine schedules, pertussis, and if he'll see both twins with same appointment.

  • Nothing new here, I'm 20 weeks. I'm half baked!! The nexium stopped the vomiting thank goodness. I've been having sciatic and hip pain lately. I have my a/s next week and I can't wait!! I haven't seen him in almost 2 months. I'm ready for confirmation it's a he so we can start painting and buying wall decor. The crib has been sitting in a box in the room for over a month and I'm ready to get this show on the road!

Qotd: I'm not really interested in finding a pediatrician I'm going to find a GP here local to me. Insurance options are still up in the air so that kinda puts a hold on things too.

Approaching my loss milestone from our twins, that has me anxious. Qotd: I have asked around to friends and started making a list. I have no idea what I am even looking for! I am planning on vaccinating, I just need more info on how to space them out etc... If anyone has a good resource, that would be great.

  • Oh dear. I have lots of updating to tell you all. My sch has kicked up again, and I have an u/s this Monday to see what the placenta is doing. My dr has ordered modified bed rest for the next 5 weeks. My back has been killing me, and apparently I have a case of the braxton hicks going on, which my ob says is normal around this time with twins. I have generally been miserable and just bought a maternity support yesterday. I just put it on, and so far I can at least walk around without holding on to my tummy. Considering I'm almost 20 weeks, I'm glad it's halfway over truthfully. I can't wait to meet the babies (happy and healthy, of course). I'm starting to feel them move, I'm just wondering when hubby will be able to feel them.

As for pediatricians, I think I am going to stick to our family practitioner. She is really nice and I have gone to her for years. Peds in my medical group is kind of far from me, and I would rather stay closer to home.

We will probably just use the same doc we have for DD #1 so that should be easy...just need to call the office and let them know we are expecting again :) Keep thinking about it and then it slips my mind

  • Hi Ladies!

Everything is well on this end. I had my monthly OB appointment last Friday, and all was well. I am now 23 + 1 day today. I was happy that "Joshua" sounded great on the doppler, my BP was fine, and I only gained a half pound in the past month. I'm overweight, so I want to gain significantly less than the normal- maybe 10-15 pounds total. I got my glucola to do my GTT at my next visit- 26+ weeks. I also have a history of anxiety/OCD and noticed that it has been increasing in the last week. I'm seeing a new therapist which I have found helpful. I'm definitely noticing a lot more movement now too. Oh, end we're in the middle of buying a new house!! Wishing everyone a great week!!

QOTD: Picked the practice I want to go to, but haven't called yet.

  • Hi! Can I please be added? I am 15wks today! Due 4-3-14
  • Well I am 20 weeks 1 day today and I go in for my Level II ultrasound.  So nervous--prayers would be greatly appreciated.  We also will (hopefully) find out the gender!
  • Hello,

I am 25 weeks. I am feeling ok. I had an ultrasound on Monday and she was doing ok. I have my heart echo next week and glucose test end of month.

I have a pedi for my dd so we are keeping the same doc. I did not have much choice in selecting it, it was the only one talking on infants. My pedi, do not want to deal with infants. We are happy with the practice and it is close to our house.

  • How far along are you this week?  16 weeks
Any appointments or other updates?  Still on modified bedrest. Had an ultrasound last week and the babies are growing well. Baby A has a choroid cyst. Hopefully it will resolve on it's own. Trying not to worry too much as both my MFM and OB didn't seem concerned, at least not yet.
QOTW:  Have you started researching or interviewing pediatricians?  What are you looking for?  We will be using my family doctor as far as I know. Pediatricians require referrals here, so we will be sent to one if it's deemed necessary.

  • Good Afternoon all you fine ladies! I am currently 16w3d and feeling great! On Tuesday I looked fat, not pregnant. DH was actually concerned something could be wrong with the baby since my stomach looked just slightly bloated. I woke up on Thursday and finally "popped". My stomach finally feels harder and looks rounder, definitely pregnant looking belly! Excited to finally be able and show it off! Also getting a lot hungrier!

QOTD: I have not thought about any of that yet! I'm still trying to figure out this whole pregnancy thing!
