Strabismus eye surgery

Hi everyone!
I used to be a regular but it's been a long time....

My 5 y/o DD has to have eye surgery for strabismus. She is in Kindergarten and will be having the surgery mid-Dec.

I was just wondering if anyone's LO has had the surgery and how it went...how was recovery? What did you do to prepare LO to go in? How were the first couple days following surgery? My DD is having a lot of anxiety about it on/off so I found a picture book about it all (Blueberry Eyes) that I hope will help... just looking to see what others' experiences were.

Also, did you do any vision therapy along with the surgery, or find that the surgery itself was enough? DD's doctor mentioned possible repeat surgeries too.

TIA!

Re: Strabismus eye surgery

  • I don't have any experience with this surgery at all.  I am thinking that it's the surgery that corrects lazy eye, correct?

Anyway, I just wanted to say I hope it goes well, and that I think you're doing everything you can to prepare your DD.
