What is worse?

What is worse? Having a c- section or giving natural birth to a baby??

  • I think as long as the baby is delivered safely and both you and the baby are healthy it shouldn't really matter.
  • Uhhhhhhm, why does it matter? I think I'd just want my child here safely, no matter what.

  • I have done neither, but I would like to give birth naturally. I ended up with an epi last time after being induced by pitocin.

For me, here is my order of preference:
    Med-free > Vaginal with epi >>>> C-section

C-sections are a blessing to have available when needed, but they are very major surgery. So I don't even get your debate or question.

  • Both results will hopefully give you a healthy baby so they're both wonderful.  Not sure why it matters......

  • Neither... You get your baby right?
  • If you mean natural as in no pain meds I don't have experience.

But I have had a vaginal birth with epidural and a c section. Vaginal birth I found more painful but I preferred it over c section. The healing period is much shorter and doesn't leave a lovely scar behind :)

    ... Hmm...

Obviously, nobody WANTS to have a c-section, its major surgery where your abdomen and uterus are cut open. If its medically necessary, then it is what it is. I imagine the recovery takes longer and is more painful than a vaginal birth. Then again, depending on any tearing you have during a vaginal delivery, it can wreak havoc on your body as well.

Its called Labor for a reason: its isn't easy and its hard work. Both get you a healthy baby delivered safely.

  • Another drive-by?

The main goal is a healthy mom and baby. A natural birth has it's advantages but if a c-section is deemed medically necessary than obviously that is the better choice.

I heard that c-section babies look like goats. On the other hand, vaginal birth babies resemble puffins. So, I think it really depends on whether you want a goat-baby or a puffin-baby.

Don't discount the goat-baby so quickly.

The goat baby just made me tear up.

  • By what definition? "Worse" is subjective. C-sections carry far more inherent risks than natural childbirth for both mom and baby.
Regardless I don't know why you're even asking.
