How to get from the airport to the hotel?

We're going away next month and will be bringing the car seat with us.  However, every other time we've been to this destination (Honolulu, yahoo!), we've taken a shuttle to  the hotel.  Are shuttles typically equipped to handle car seats, or are we stuck with a cab?  Any advice from mamas who have traveled is appreciated.
