I went in for my weekly appointment today and asked my OB about getting my Tdap shot. She said there is a nationwide shortage and that I won't be able to get it done, that hopefully I would be able to get it done once I give birth. I did check the CDC website and they said there will be a shortage from Mid-August until Mid-October.
Just wondering if anyone else been told this because I haven't seen anyone post anything about it recently.
Our internal medicine doctors office said there was a shortage. I called a few other places though and found that our urgent care clinic had it. Went there and got tdap and flu shot at once. Our pharmacy had it too. I'd definitely at least try calling some other places
Thanks! I was definitely going to check out the pharmacies in the area. Especially since DH needs to get both his Tdap and Flu shots. Good to know that you were able to get it elsewhere.
My FIL had to drive 30 mins away in rush hour traffic to go get one (sweet guy) Also, Make sure to get your TDAPP and Flu shot in the same day otherwise you will have to wait 4 weeks in between (what the doctor told my FIL, after they gave him the flu shot, but before they gave him the TDAPP, which is why he had to drive 30 mins to get it)
So yes there is a shortage, but just call around, I bet you can find one.
I was told there was a shortage at my PCP, they didn't have any. Luckily my midwives did. Family is having a hard time finding it though, but at least I have it and will pass some immunity on.
Yup, my employer (a children's hospital) told me that too.I was not able to get a free one through them like I usually would be able to (did get my flu shot though). They are available at select pharmacies though, my husband just got one at Walgreen's - he paid $70 (ugh).
I got mine last week but they were out of it for a while. Speaking of I have to schedule for H to get his....
You are a NYCer, right? I spoke with one of the Duane Reade's downtown and they have it. Said to have doctor send over prescription for the shot, they will fill it and then you can take it to your doctor to have the shot administered. Hopefully your H's office will have it making it easier than having to go through all this mess!
I've gotten it, as well as my mother and grandmother (DH previously had his). Haven't heard of a shortage in my area. I'm sure you can find it someplace around you.
I would call your local CVS or Walgreens. I was able to get my DTAP this last week from CVS but I called ahead to see if they had any in stock. I think the bigger companies usually buy more vaccinations so they may have more in stock than smaller md office or pharmacy
Yep, DH just went to get his, the CVS was out and there was only one location left in a 50 mile radius that had just one dose left. He was able to get it at Walgreens though.
