Hepatitis A Vaccination?

I just had my daughter's 15 month appointment and the doctor said at the next appointment (18 months) she could be given the Hep A vaccine.  Apparently this is optional.  I'm curious if others have given this to their children and what the pros and cons are?

    DS got his at his 12 month appointment.  Not sure the pros and cons, just figured its another vaccine he needs.

    DD just got hers the other day. It hadn't been long enough at her 18mo appointment (they had us move her appointment up a week).

    Clomid/Femara cycle #2 - 7/10 = BFP #1 - Missed miscarriage 9/2/10
    11/12 - BFP #2 - 11/22 - m/c
    5/1/11 - BFP #3 - Pre-eclampsia, IUGR & bed rest from 32w. DD born via induction 1/4/12.

    Our pedi doesn't do it unless LO will be traveling overseas or someone in the immediate family is high risk. It's also not required in our state for public school because it's very rare for young kids.

    Hepatitis A is something that you will see pop up from time and again in different areas- I know here in Charlotte, NC it is often spread from eating out. Kitchen workers not washing hands can pass their virus onto unsuspecting patrons and can leave pretty devastating trails. LO will be vaccinated.

    DD will be getting the Hep A vaccine. Our family travels internationally at least yearly, often to developing countries. DH & I got the vaccine ourselves over a decade ago (since it wasn't available when we were babies).

    I'm still on the fence about this one.  DD is supposed to get hers at 2 years old.  (We are on a delayed schedule).
