How many oz in each bottle do you give your 5m old? Also are they EBF? My daughter is and will be starting daycare when I return to work. Trying to figure out how many oz she will take in each bottle - I'm thinking 6oz?? TIA!

Probably 5. 6 is a lot for breast milk and it's really easy to over feed a breast fed baby with a bottle. Make sure daycare knows how feed her correctly. I think kellymom has instructions you can print out. I had that issue when I returned to work. My mom watches DS and she said other babies his age ate 6-8 ounces but that was formula and I had to show her how BM is different. Now everyone is on the same page and happy.
My 5 month old drinks 4 oz's every 3 hours at DC. DC always wants to increase it because they are so used to FF babies but I continue to tell them no because he is perfectly satisfied for 3 + hours on only 4 oz's. I agree with Emmy make sure they know how to feed EBF babies.
edit: He also takes 2 oz of fruit in the AM after his first bottle. We tried cereal but he was refusing BM so I switched to fruit which is lighter for his tummy

YAY! TEAM BLUE! Alex was born 4/15/13 5:09pm 6lb 10oz 20in!
Our son is EBF. He is with the nanny from 8 am until 3 pm and drinks three 4 oz bottles and then a little one oz bottle to tide him over. If he is having a bottle with us, it is 4-4.5 oz. sometimes if it is right before bed, he'll want a little more and eat 5-5.5 oz. I would start a little smaller and work your way up. Send an extra bottle or a bag of frozen milk at first, just in case, as you are adjusting how much LO drinks. You'll figure it out quickly!
Eta: our guy is a big eater and a chunker, 17 lbs at 5 months.

My LO won't take more than 4 oz of breastmilk at a time either, and eats every 2 - 3 hours. She is EBF. Even when she is going through a growth spurt, she won't take more than 4 oz at a time, she just wants more sooner than normal.
I nurse him before I leave for work in am @ 7:30, then he'll take 2oz, 2 hours later, then 4 oz, 2-3 hours after that and then eats every 2-3 hrs and 3-4 oz. until I get home 5 or 6p. He probably takes 4 bottles all day. This is subject to change
She gets all bm. She nurses once in the am before we leave for work/daycare (7/7:30am). Then she will get another bottle of bm between 10:30-11:30. Then she will have another bottle around 2:30-3:30pm. The two bottles she gets at daycare are 6 oz each. Then she will nurse once or twice more when we get home and before bed.
For you two whose LO only take 4 oz, ever, how many oz total per day?
DD eats about 10oz while I'm gone (She's with a babysitter from 9-6, but I nurse her at lunch), so she probably eats about 13-14oz during the course of a typical work day? She eats every 2-3 hours, 3-4oz each time. She nurses a lot in the mornings and evenings, and 1-2x overnight (which for her is 8pm-7am). If I had to guess, I'd say she eats about 28oz per 24 hour day?

I also let her nurse so I'm assuming it works out at about 5-5.5 ounces.
