is your toddler on your dental plan?

I very much want to put my 13 month old on our dental plan but my husband does not. The ppl at his work acted like he was crazy for wanting to put her on so he changed his mind and took her off. He can still add her. Should I make him? Its me against his office of men with no kids lol.

We will be putting our 15 month old on next month during open enrollment. I wished he had done it last year so we could get her teeth checked at 1 year.
As soon as she is covered we will start introducing her to the dentist.

I think if you don't do it know then you will have to wait until open enrollment next year and she will be over 2. It is suggested to introduce babies to the dentist at 1.

our twins are on ours...only b/c it's free for us (employer provides dental insurance). if it wasn't too much more money, i think i'd add your lo. our dr says if the teeth come in discolored or get chipped they need to see a dentist so i'd like to be ready.

Our ds is 13 months, I don't see a need to put him on yet as he just got his 4th tooth. I'll probably wait until he is 2 or 3 if he needs a dentist before then we can just pay for the visit (might want to consider that, for as little as they may need a dentist at this age it may be cheaper to pay as needed than on a plan)

DD is 17 months old. Two weeks ago, she fell face down in our driveway and cracked one of her front teeth and I needed to take her for an emergency trip to a pediatric dentist. The crack went all the way up to the nerve and the tooth had to be pulled. If we had not already added her to our dental insurance, we would have paid several hundred dollars (more if the tooth had been savable and they needed to cap it). For the small cost of dental insurance, IMO it's worth it.

I am adding DS2 this week. I added DS1 a bit earlier than this but it honestly just slipped my mind this time. Our pediatric dentist starts seeing kids at age 2 unless there is an issue before hand. And even at 2, it's just to get them used to the office and very rarely includes an exam. I just want him covered in case of emergency.

Our dental is wrapped in with our medical so he's been on it since he was born. It's only going to be a year or so until she needs to be on it anyways so I would just add her now in case of emergency.

DS is on my husband's dental plan since it's so cheap, but neither the pedi nor the dentist recommended an exam until he was about three.

My son did not go to a dentist until he was 2 years old and even that first visit did not go well. With my daughter, I started her early going to a pediatric dentist before she was 1 years old (she was free). And then recently, I took her in August. They gave us a toddler toothbrush and talked to us about her teeth that were coming in.

That visit is just to get them used to sitting in the chair, meeting the dentist, etc. but they don't need to be "examined" until closer to 3. There's really no rush. My question for the OP is why her hubby's co-workers are able to convince him that he doesn't need a necessary coverage for his child.

Our dentist gives the first exam at 2. He wanted us to bring in at twice before the 2 year appointment just to get them adjusted.

I added LO to health, dental, and vision at birth. Health was a no brainer and honestly the other two weren't too much more. For me it was just easy to do it then and not possibly forget down the road before LO gets to the age to use them (our dentist says they'll see her at 3 years).

Emergencies always pop up too!
