Baby shower door prize help

I know there's a baby shower board, but there's more traffic here. ;)

Ok BFF's mom has asked me to help her figure out a way to award five door prizes. Her example was the first guest to show up with a blue bow on their package (BFF's baby is a boy).

I've never been to a shower with door prizes. Are they all awarded at the door? I was thinking like guest who traveled furthest or guest with a birthday closest to BFF's DD would get a prize.

Any ideas on how to award door prizes?

  • What about putting a sticker under someone's place setting??

  • I think your ideas sound nice. The last shower I went to we had to guess how many candy pieces were in some cute containers. They gave away small potted plants along with the candy.

  • I like all of the ones you listed.  You could also do the first person wearing baby blue.

You could have some one in stand at the door looking for your specified items and write down the people's names.  Then award them all at once later on.  Let people pick from a table of prizes. I have seen prizes anywhere from $5-10 GCs to Bath and Body Lotions to small Yankee/Gold Canyon candles.

I like the idea of prize giveaways that aren't too game-y.

  • Yeah, I get the impression that there are additional game prizes, but she is doing these door prizes too.

If it's just at the door, I'm stumped or than the blue thing. I guess I should email her to clarify.

  • It doesn't have to be baby related.

    first person with certain shoes

first person with a certain purse

first person with an actual wrwapped present (not gift bag)

  • I like the guessing of the # of candies in the jar idea, since everyone gets an equal shot at winning. I have some big cranks in my family that would legit whine if they didn't have an even shot of winning a prize.
