Snakes in a school

So I read an article about this high school close to my hometown that is infested with snakes and the school administration is not addressing the problem

I'm sorry but I don't think my child would be going to school until the problem was fixed.

Re: Snakes in a school

  • Maybe it's just my fear of snakes. I wouldn't be ok with the rats either though.

  • Uh, how can the kids concentrate? My kid wouldn't be able to!
  • Wow, the people running the show at that school sound super smart.

  • Yeah, poisonous or not, "wildlife" shouldn't be roaming the schools. I know I would be terrified and I'm sure there are some teenagers that would think it would be funny to play jokes on kids that were afraid. Sounds like a big distractor that needs to be addressed.

Snakes outside in my yard are tolerable, in my house?! No!
  • I don't see the big deal if they aren't poisonous. Snakes are wild life and they take care of the rat population.
ok this is weird.   i don't want 'wild life' roaming my hallways thanks
@cousinvicki Me too! LOL first thing I thought of when I saw the title.

I didn't watch the video till later, I thought it was an outside school. I don't see a big deal with snakes outside. They need to address the rat problem to get rid of the snakes. Snakes never freaked me out though.
    ...what is an 'outside' school??

  • I don't see the big deal if they aren't poisonous. Snakes are wild life and they take care of the rat population. I would be more worried about the rats because they carry diseases and probably infest the cafeteria.

This isn't a one or the other choice. How about they address both issues and get them taken care of?! I don't think it is unreasonable. This isn't a barn on a farm!
  • Also, it was a pretty good-sized snake climbing straight up a classroom wall. FUCK NO.

  • Reminds me of Snakes on a Plane.

Probably outside hallways/covered sidewalks instead of a huge building with indoor hallways. My hs in Orlando was like this and dd's kindergarten campus was also this way.

  • Um, yuck. If I worked there I'd definitely be refusing to go to work and surely wouldn't send my kids in.

  • I'm a teacher and I would not go
To work with snakes let alone have my child there. We have a stray cat at my school and that is the limit of the "wildlife" I can tolerate.

  • My two biggest fears are snakes and heights. This is a huge no no to me.

I live in California were the weather is always nice. Most of the schools I know of you access the classroom from the outside. So if a snake slithers inside oh well, it must of snuck in. We don't really have large buildings that have a ton of class rooms in it like in sister act lol. Unless it's a college. I don't really know how to describe it or if there is a name for them.
Oooooohh, I gotcha. More like a 'campus'. I was SO confused! I was thinking of, like, wilderness camp or something. :)

  • He'll no. Wouldn't be workin there or sending my child there and I sure as hell would be organizing other parents to raise hell.
