Picky eaters. Advice needed!

Hi all,

My twin girls are 21 months old and usually are super good eaters but for a couple weeks now have been SUPER picky. They literally will only eat snack food and pancakes if i'm lucky.  No matter what I try at meal time they will take a bite or two then be done. I've been giving them the fruit and veggie pouches at meal times too so they atleast get their nutrients but i'm desperate for some help. Anyone else go through this? Any tips or food ideas I can give them that might work?

  • Trying some new foods with interesting flavors might help get them interested in food again. Mix up their menu a bit with some new recipes and maybe you'll find a "hit".

If they do have a small list of favorite foods, I would use that as a jumping off point for branching out a little. For example, if they like pancakes then try similar items like potato pancakes, skillet cornbread,  crepes. If they'll eat snack foods, then maybe appetizer-type stuff like mini pizzas, meatballs, mini quiches, breaded zucchini, banana chips. Adding different condiments and sauces can also help spice up their usual foods.

  • My pediatrician suggested using dips in order to get my daughter to eat more veggies, but now she LOVES to dip everything and says "dip, dip, dip" throughout the meal. It might be worth a try. Some favorites with my daughter are hummus, Greek yogurt, fruit yogurt, ginger salad dressing and teriyaki sauce.
