Share your baby food recipes

I make DD's food and I'm enjoying it so much. It's surprisingly easy and I find that homemade food tastes way better than packaged food. I use organic ingredients. I have a few yummy recipes of my own and thought it would be fun to swap with you mamas. Here goes. 1) butternut squash, pear and dried prunes. Steam together, then blend. I prefer to steam my food since nutrients get lost when you boil. To steam I just put after in a stainless steel pot, place the veggies & fruit in a stainless steel colander, place this over the pot of water, cover and steam until soft. I use the leftover steaming water to blend the food into a purée. 2) carrots, pear and prunes. Same procedure as above. 3) sweet potato, banana and prunes 4) sweet peas, steamed and puréed, then blended with boiled potatoes and some water and a little bit of butter. Yum! Next I plan to introduce chicken but don't have a recipe yet.

  • Yum, thanks for sharing!  I make our food too, but I haven't blended any veggies together yet.  I think I'm going to try soon though, so DS doesn't get tired of one flavour.

We've done chicken and I just minced some up finely and served it on the spoon with yams, but I didn't mix it in, if that makes sense.

  • I make a ton of each food and freeze it in ice cube trays.  When I unthaw it I will usually pick a few different things to unthaw together and therefore make a blend.  It gives him some variety and I'm not stuck with a bunch of one recipe.  For instance, he isn't a fan of peas but doesn't notice them if I mix them and one of his favorites is peas and sweet potatoes.

This is what I do too! Tonight DD had lentils, sweet peas and butternut squash and she loved it!
