BFN, next steps, and not sure where I am headed...

So we got a BFN on our last cycle. And according to our plan, after 7 iui's, I am out. We are moving on to IVF with Healz in November.

We are still processing. I am still figuring out how I will grieve before I fully let this disappointment in and let go of it. I am sad, and hurting, and committed to moving on with the plan we made. And I am struggling with changing my whole perspective on what my identity as a perspective parent is.

I think I will probably try to take a break from the boards for awhile. It's too hard right now, I am feeling a bit like I don't really know where I belong at the moment as I transition away from being a bio and gestational parent for the foreseeable future.

H will probably keep us both up to date on your news and events, and I wish you all well. I also look forward to meeting our late Nov/early Dec cycle buddies when that time comes.

Re: BFN, next steps, and not sure where I am headed...

  • I'm so sorry to hear this on all levels. I'm not even sure what to say... Taking a break from the board certainly makes sense if it is too hard for you. You need to do what you need to do in order to take care of yourself and figure out this transition of sorts. We are all here to support both of you.

    Again....I am so sorry.

11/14/14 -  Second HSG shows that tubes are still clear and ute is looking good.

12/6/14 - Started BCPs in prep for IVF #2

We will miss you but I totally get the need for a break -- I took one after my first loss and it was good for me.  I also understand some of the change in perspective.  Although I still have a couple of shots, I've been thinking a lot about when to stop and how I feel about it.  For us, that would mean being child-free, at least for a while, and it's hard to wrap my head around that after committing more than two years of our lives to the opposite.

I think I can speak for the group when I say that we all wish you well and will welcome you with open arms when you are ready to come back to us!

  • So sorry, @Manada :( yes, you will be missed, but I completely understand why you'd want to take a break.  Right now I'm the one who plans to carry (and I really, really WANT to carry) and I would have a hard time dealing if I couldn't and we had to move on to C (who is willing but does not want to carry).  I hope you find peace in moving on and I wish you both lots of luck with your IVF cycle!

  • The most important thing is that you take care of yourselves. Only you guys know what you need, and if one of those things is a break, then it's all you can do. Best wishes. <3
