Anyone have a Quinny? Or other Front Facer?

My local BBB has the Quinny Mod on Clearance for $299 right now. I am so tempted to buy it. I really want a front facer and haven't seen very many. If you have that Quinny do you love it? Is it worth the money? It didn't seem to maneuver as nicely as my City Mini, but I didn't really test it out.

Kid #1 - 09/03/12
Kid #2 - maybe???
Diagnosed with Severe Ashermans

  • I've heard great things about them. I think @mrsjenni has one?

  • that's a good price for them. personally, i'd be ticked the basket wasn't big enough and i'd worry that maybe DD would get too tall to be comfortable in it before i was ready to give it up (no idea if it's shorter in the seat than most, just looks like it might be). but if it looks good for your uses, that's a hard deal to pass up. i've never seen anyone with the moodd around, but the buzz seems fairly popular (which i assume means it doesn't suck)

  • I don't know anything about that stroller but I love parent facing strollers. James rode parent facing until he was over 2. Now he only uses a stroller when we are in the double but if I only had one kid he would still sit parent facing a lot. I actually hate that the doubles aren't parent facing. I faced him out at places like museums/zoo but when we were shopping or on walks, he loved facing me and talking about everything we were seeing/doing to me.

I had the I'Coo Targo until I ran over it and I just replaced it with a Bumbleride. Good thing about buying a used expensive brand stroller is that you can resell it on CL for close to what you paid for it. Does the one you found work with an infant seat? That might hinder resale value. You should be able to find other parent facing strollers on CL for $300 or less.

  • We have the BJ City Select & you can flip the seat. We got it on CL when i was pg with DD. we've been really happy with it.

We set it up as a double & you can still face them toward you, or face them toward each other, or whatever. We recently got the glider board too, so DD can ride outward in the single & DS can stand & ride in the back.

  • I haven't had to buy a stroller yet, we got a snap n go and a CM GT for my showers. I think L would love to face me. She is constantly turning around in her seat or looking up through the window trying to chat with me.

DH & I talked abut it a little more once he got home. Since we want to start TTC next summer we will wait to see how quickly that goes. If I get preg relatively quickly I would need a double anyway.

I love the idea of the one on sale, but found a few others that would fit better for the future. Thanks for all the opinions!

FWIW, I use my single way more than I use my double and my kids are less than 2 years apart.

  • I love the BReady. I'm sorta sad we don't use a stroller more often because I like it a lot. E likes to face me so we hardly ever put it in outward facing mode.

  • $300 for a stroller of any kind is a great price.  Apparently I'm a stroller snob.  I would never buy a cheap stroller.
Yeah...I can see $300 for a high-end stroller being considered a good price, but I'm on the other end of this--I would never pay that much for a stroller.

That said, I wore E most of the time when she was smaller and still wear her a lot now, so stroller was not one of my priority items.  And plenty of people would say they would never spend $120 on a baby carrier, and I definitely did for my Ergo.  My stroller was cheaper, lol!

  • Even if we had unlimited resources I would not pay $300 for a single.
  • I think $300 is a great deal for a Quinny  but would hate to spend that if I had a stroller already. That is why I brought a stroller that faces in both directions. We have a bugaboo and I love it although I wish it came with more of the accesories.
  • We have a Quinny Buzz (it was a hand-me-down) - we love it. It's somewhat large with the wheels, but it fits in the trunk of my sedan. That thing is seriously all-terrain. I can take it in the backyard with the dogs, up and down stairs by myself, and it's very comfortable for DD to sleep in. It comes with a rain guard and a bug net. It's our go to stroller for any type of outdoor event or activity, or for longer day trips when DD will need a nap at some point.

It's not great for crowded indoor activities, shopping, or restaurants. It doesn't have a huge storage area (our biggest complaint), although I can fit my diaper bag underneath it.

I know my comments are for the Buzz, but the design looks similar. Overall, we've been really happy with it. But then again, we got it for free. ;)

  • Late to the party, sorry. I've been super busy since Saturday.  Anyway, I don't have that stroller, but I do have a Quinny Zapp Xtra and I love it.  We have a Baby Jogger City Mini double as well so we were looking for a small single stroller that folded up tiny but also had some of the features that you mentioned in your post.

Anyway, Reid still likes to ride facing me, but when we go anywhere busy (i.e. boardwalk, soccer fields, etc.) I face him away from me so he can look around.  I also love that it has several different recline features, both forward and rear facing.

What I don't like about it is that the basket is tiny and you can only get to it if the seat is reclined.  Not a deal breaker for me by any means. It's also not great on rocky/rough surfaces, but that is usually only temporary anyway (like strolling through a gravel parking lot to get to a sidewalk.)

Other than that, I love it! And if you get an older model, they're like half the price too.  TBH, I don't like the look of the Quinny Modd at all, but I do think it's worth it to invest in a good stroller, if you can.  GL!
