Anyone else looking for opinions on names?

I wanted to get some feedback on our short list names so far, but if anyone else wants feedback as well, feel free to post as well!

We are having a much harder time with names this time around!  DD is Ellinor Lillian, Lillian is after my great aunt, and her initials are the same as DH's which I think is super cute.  DS is Xavier Leo, Leo is MH's, FIL's and my Dad's middle name and his initial are pretty close to DH's XLD vs. ELD.

Names we like this time:

Girls:
Lydia Noelle (Noelle after my Memere Noella)
Violet Noelle or Noella
When we were PG for DS, MH also liked Abigail, but compared with our other two, I think it's too popular.

Boys:
Ian
Grayson
Jace (this is a distant possibility!)

Not sure on boy middle names...family name possibilities are Richard (my Dad), Ronald (his dad), Alfred or Ernest after my Pepere's, possibly August after one of my great-grandfathers.

I really like Lydia Noelle. It flows so nicely.

Also, as a nerd, I really wanted to point out the first Robin (from Batman) was Dick Grayson. So by that aspect, I like Grayson Richard lol

  • I love Lydia Noelle; I don't care for the sound of Abigail Noelle. My favorite boy combination that you have is Grayson Ernest.
  • Violet
    Noella
  • I love violet & Grayson! Both were on my list but sice my last name is a color, didn't really work out.

My teen daughter takes a child care class in high school. She told me that she has 5 kids in there with the names, Grayson, Graydon, Grayden, Grayten.

    Yikes!

Although Lydia isn't my style I love it with Noelle. My fave boy name is Jace.

I know Grayson is a "trendy" name right now, but it's one I've liked for a long time - and it only broke the top 100 this past year (85) so still a far cry from a top 10.

  • I like Violet. Lydia sounds really old fashioned compared to your others.

I don't really like Grayson, but I do like Jace. However, it makes me think of 16 and pregnant.

All of our girl names are pretty old fashioned...Ellinor/Eleanor was most popular in the early 1900's and 20's, pretty much same thing with Violet.  Lydia is just overall more uncommon.

I heard somewhere that there was a Jace from 16 & Pregnant, but I've literally never seen even a clip of that show, so I don't have the association.

  • I like both of the girls names, but I'm not a huge fan of any of the boys names. If I had to pick, I'd go with Ian. Your other kids' names are so classic that to me Grayson and Jace don't fit with sib set. If that makes any sense?
Our problem with boys names is we don't want anything too common but also don't want anything totally out there either. It's a really hard balance with boy's names!  Xavier was really the only boy name we ever truly agreed on even though we had a couple of other contenders.

Here is the Jace family :) But really it's not going to be relevant in a couple years so I say use it!

Boy's names are harder in that regard. Xavier is on our list too. DH likes Oliver and I'm digging Graham. All legitimate names that are fairly uncommon, but not in left field.

  • I love Lydia Noelle! I hadn't even thought of that name but it's really cute :) For boys I think my favorite would be Ian Richard. I have always loved Ian and Euan for boys names!

I'm really on the fence with Jace...I don't hate it and DH kind of likes it (I think almost ironically) because of it's connection to Magic: The Gathering which he has played for a good portion of his life.  Boys names are just.so.hard!!  I almost want this baby to be a girl just so we don't have to deal with naming another boy!
