XP: 30 minute naps

So the last few mornings, DD has gone down for her morning nap without a problem but the problem is that the nap is only 30 minutes. I know this counts as a nap but when she wakes up it is so obvious that she wasn't ready to wake up even though her eyes are bright and alert. She is still super cranky and is ready for another nap within 10 minutes. Then she proceeds to have an actual 1-1.5 hour nap.

I know that 30 minutes is the baby's sleep cycle but is there anything I can do to help her continue sleeping after 30 minutes into her nap? Is this just a phase as her body is setting into a routine of naps? Suggestions?

Thanks ladies!

Re: XP: 30 minute naps

  • DS is 9 weeks and the only way he sleeps past 30 minutes is if he's held or worn. Otherwise, I go back into his crib and soothe him back to sleep when he wakes. Have you tried swaddling for naps?

Yup I swaddle every time she sleeps. It's strange because it just happens for her morning nap. If she takes a 30 minute nap later on she is perfectly content until her next nap. Oh well, all in due time!
