When to install car seat (or base at least)?

I'm trying to decide when i should install the car seat because after I want to go get it checked out to make sure its in correctly and is ready. But I dont want to put it in too early but at the same time its not going to happen the day I go into labor (I can just hear myself screaming at him that hes doing it wrong while i'm having contractions). Any one decide when they are going to do it?

    I've delivered both my boys at 36 weeks, so we will install the base at 35 weeks to be on the safe side. Won't do it any earlier because it means my boys will be having to move their seats sooner than necessary.

    I think we will install it around 35 weeks as well, I feel like any earlier i will go insane waiting for him plus at 35 weeks it will hopefully still be okay weather in NY

    I usually do it around 37 weeks. I will be putting it earlier this time though so DD & DS can get used to riding in the back and the LO's carseat being in there.

    We actually just put a base in one of the cars last week. It was mostly to see if it would fit/try to configure the car and we just kept it in there.  We'll put the other base in the other car probably about 36 weeks or so.

    We will most likely just keep it in the car and then install it before we take baby home.  For my first I installed it around 35-36 weeks.  I figure you want it in there before your "full" term at 37 weeks just because you could have the baby at any time.  You can always install the base and keep the actual car seat part in the house until you're in labor so people won't notice you did it super early. :)

    I probably won't put it in the car until around 38/39 weeks or so unless I'm showing signs of preterm labor. I want my current daughter's carseat to be in the middle spot for as long as possible. No point in rearranging her setup until it's necessary.

    We installed the base around 35 weeks last time, and will do it no later than that again. But I actually want DH to do it ASAP so we can make sure that the infant seat will fit in the configuration we need the seats to be in (baby behind driver, DD behind passenger). Lord knows what'll happen if it's too tight for the infant seat in that spot.

    Probably around 35 weeks. I think that is when we did it last time.

    DH knows how to install it (2nd baby) so he can put it in after the baby is born.

    I think we did it around 37 weeks last time and I delivered at 39 weeks. We'll probably do the same this time.

    Probably the day before I go for my RCS. My first 2 were insanely late and we're pretty good at installing it so I'm not worried.

    37 or 38 weeks. If something happens any earlier we will just have to have someone pick it up and bring it to us so we can install it at the hospital. They don't take long to install.

    I am taking mine to the police station Thursday ( 31 weeks). Just because I have a Toyota Camry and already two car seats in ( booster and forward facing toddler). I work as a nanny and want to find out if we need to buy narrower booster or even install on/off switch for airbag on passenger seat. My friend got that as a recommendation. Didn't even know it was an option....

    I delivered at 31w and 32 w... I'm now 32w5d and don't have mine installed yet. Maybe next weekish. We're looking at trading my car in for a minivan so we may do thy first.

    Risalyn222 That is very true! And very frustrating. I installed just the base so that it was all set and can be checked out whenever (FTM so i have no clue if its right or not). And if, god forbid, I get into an accident a base is alot cheaper to get than the whole seat!

    I'm thinking soon so we can just see if it fits w. the 2 other car seats back there, i'm 29 weeks. But I won't really worry about it (or get to it) until 38 weeks or so.

    I tried to install our base a couple weeks ago, but couldn't get it tight enough.  I have a seat cover from Britax ordered and will try again once that arrives. My husband knows squat about installing a car seat, so I always do it. I don't want to leave it until the last minute in case something happens. I'll be having a scheduled c-section and won't be in any position to install the base after babe is born.

    @amyrose542 we've always used Graco in the past, and will likely get that again. Haven't definitely decided yet. we always get an infant carrier- our babies are 6 lb'ers usually.:)

    We have already installed the base due to moving house and not having added boxes in our load. And more so, the fear of it going missing when we do need it!
