What do you think is wrong?

My son is almost 7 months old.. He's had a cold for over 3 weeks now.. For the past 3 days he's been running a fever periodically usually around 101.3 .. He hasn't been sleeping good at all he wakes up every couple hours screaming, he even looks a little under the weather, he has become extremely clingy and one minute he's fine and happy and the next minute he is screaming and crying hysterically. He has a doctors appt tomorrow because of this new onset of fever.. Just wondering your thoughts, maybe his cold turned into something worse? Maybe he's teething which has crossed my mind because of the drool and sucking on everything, maybe ear infection? Has anyone else experienced this?
