Any reviews/experience with the Mamaroo?

Does anyone have any experience with the 4moms Mamaroo bouncer? I have seen many good reviews and am strongly considering this as my "splurge" item for the fact that we don't have a lot of space. I thought I'd ask you ladies to hopefully get a few opinions and be more informed before I decide to purchase it.

  • Haha we threw this on our registry - how freakin cool is it?!?!
I'm no help as far as experience with it...but I love the thing!!! :)

  • I don't have any experience with it, but, DH and I have been eyeing it quite a bit. My mil is here visiting, and said the mamaroo would be a gift from the babies nana. We'll be getting it before she heads back to New Zealand on the 16th. I'll let you know how it is without babies then
  • My review is based off of a 2 year old model so they may have made changes. Just some stuff to keep in mind. It is definitely cool and quite small; BUT (big but here) there is zero support for a baby that is unable to support their head. It has very little cushion and was basically just a hard piece of nylon, almost like a sling. We got it and were super excited p, took it out of the box and didn't use it because I would put dd in and her head would slump and she looked terribly uncomfortable. I think if we got an infant support maybe that would have helped but for the price, you shouldn't have to buy add-ons to make it usable. It also didn't recline enough for a newborn. I'd definitely say to go see it in person before buyin to make sure they have corrected issues! Ultimately the pluses were far outweighed by the negatives for me and all we had was a cool looking gadget that was not useful...and newborns could care less about listening to an iPod!
  • I would rather splurge on an item that we will use for longer...like a stroller or glider that you love and will get several years of use out of.

  • I agree with PP about using the money for something you'll use longer...baby isn't in the "swing" that much to make it worth while.
If you're low on space, they do make "portable" swings that are great.
My niece got a swing that takes up more space than a portable, but the seat also comes out to be a bouncer. We never had one, but many of my friends used the bouncer to take a shower. If I were to do it over, I'd definitely consider that swing.

  • (This is based on the one we had two years ago -- they are still very similar.  I think the only change might be the fabric).

We bought one because it looked awesome!  Turns out, my son REALLY likes the swing to move fast.  He hated the Mamaroo and we took it back for a snugabunny.  Just keep your box and such if you get one because you just don't know what your baby will like until they get here.

  • It's not the same function because there isn't a motor, but the Nuna Leaf is a rocker in the same price range that lasts for several years - weight capacity of 130 pounds and kids can use it to lounge/read. Just go to their main website and check it out. I am registering for both, because I think they have different functions, but I'd prefer the nuna over the mamaroo because it lasts so much longer.

  • I have no experience with this product, but as a STM, I will say that I agree with others that suggested choosing a splurge item that would last longer than a bouncer. I think we got 7-8 months use out of our bouncer, and that was really pushing it. After that it becomes a dust collector in storage anyway.

  • I bought a "used" one from someone who did not use it! But I figured $60 was well worth trying it out. I played with it last night & it seems neat & I like that it has multiple functions & does not take up much space... Hope baby likes it!
  • Thank you all for the great advice!

  • Two of my girlfriends got them and both of their little girls didn't like it. Waste!

I saw that origami pusher on the net and thought it looked awesome- I saw it IRL yesterday at the baby shop and its HUGE! It'd be like pushing a bus!!!!! And in aus it's $1200 on sale! And you have to buy extra attachments for newborn etc. no way!

Is not available in the US? I can't find it on amazon!
You have to get it on giggle, but you can put that on your universal registry on amazon! That's exactly what I did. I'm so glad I found this company, I am also registering for their pack n play, which is like the 4moms breeze but $100 cheaper!

Disclaimer: Nuna leaf is very different from mamaroo. It's not motorized, but I still want it. Their video shows it pretty well, or you can google "baby gizmo nuna leaf" she has awesome reviews. @tallash @babycaps
