Car seat

My son Evan is 8 months and he is getting so heavy in the infant car seat. Is it okay if i buy the Convertible Car Seat for him, or is he still to small.

He weights about 20pds and he is 27-30 inches. i tried to read online but im getting so confused. He can sit up by himself for a long period of time.

You can use a convertible car seat from the beginning. Infant seats are just for convenience. So you can switch now. Just make sure to get one that rear faces a long time. I suggest a Diono Radian RXT, Clek Foonf, Graco Headwise, and Chicco Nextfit. Don't fall into the Britax marketing trap. Their shells are too small to rear face long enough for most kids.

At 27 to 30 inches long, you'll have to switch him. Most infant carriers are only rated for children under 30 inches long.

I have a Radian RXT in my car which luuuurrve. I have a Graco Size4me in DH's car and I like that too. I highly suggest joining the group "Carseats for the Littles" on facebook. I will forever be in @Nana_Osaki06 favor for recommending that group. I thought I knew carseats. I was not even close to knowing what I do now

In the meantime, as long as he is still within the height and weight limit for his current seat, just leave the seat in the car. Just because you CAN carry him in the seat doesn't mean you HAVE to

I am thirding the recommendation for Car Seats for the Littles! It's amazing!
