Teething rash?

DS has developed a rash (reddish, dry, flaky skin patch) around his bottom lip. I think he could be teething as he's also been a little fussy & has had a low grade fever (99.5) for 2 days. However, I have thought he was teething before and here he is 9 months old & toothless!:)
I guess I'm wondering if anyone else's LOs developed a rash like this while teething?

Re: Teething rash?

  • Mine did this time - he's getting 5 and 6 right now (upper lateral incisors) and they are taking FOREVER to come in. At his last doctor appointment, the doc was like, "oh yeah, those are coming any day" and that was almost 2 weeks ago! Ugh!

I started putting a little lanolin on his chin in addition to trying to keep it dry. It really helped.

  • Yep. My DS has been cutting a crap ton of teeth lately, and therefore jas been drooling a ton too, so he's had his fair share of drool rash as well as some mean looking diaper rash.

Best bet is to just try to keep the area dry.

  • My LO has the same thing going on from all the drooling. We keep a bib on her 24/7 and try to wipe it as much as possible. Lanolin is a great suggestion, I never thought about that. I wanted to use something on it, but she just rubs her face or tries to lick it.
