Mod role? JW

So, after our own very mild UO and then eating popcorn to May '14's UO thread (can it still be a thread at 22 pages?)...I'm wondering what the role of the boards mod is? I'm not saying it should be policed, or whatever, or even that I didn't agree with some of the things being said. BUT, some of the things were really really cruel. So, what is the point/role of the mod? :) maybe our own mod, @ohsewcrafty can chime in.

    Yeah, not touching their mess with a ten foot poll. Haha A mods job is to be the eyes and ears for the bump gods as well as handle small stuff like warning, banning, spam, and violations of the terms of use. Bump gods handle bigger stuff like IP banning, identifying trolls, etc. When things get nasty, a mod is supposed to remove questionable/prohibited content and warn users acting I appropriately based on the TOU.

    Oh, and mods generally stick to their own board(s). If we see something on another board, we can share the info on the mod only board. So, if a board needs help, they can flag down any mod to get the ball rolling, but we try not to invade each other's space.

    ahh, gotcha.  Yeah, I was definitely not suggesting for you, OSC, to personally step in.  But I was wondering where their mod was. ?.  It sure was an entertaining read!

    A board usually suggests a mod (who then accepts or declines) or someone steps up in the beginning. Then you go through paperwork and what not with the bump gods and you're a mod. Poof!
