Vaginal stretching and tearing already? TMI warning

For the past couple weeks I have had discomfort and irritation on the top part of the opening of my vagina. I just looked with a mirror and found a quarter inch tear. Not bleeding, but red and irritated. No sex within the last month, so it is not due to that. Anyone else experience this before?

Um you said no sex though... But I've been prone to bleed/tear around my opening after sex. Red and irritated, yeah, sex or not. Even swelling and no sex. . I don't get the tears or bleeding unless DH is involved lol

ETA: have you tried an Epsom salt bath? Or baking soda in it?

  • Any chance you have a yeast infection? Last time I had one, discomfort, redness and only slightly thicker discharge were my symptoms.

No, not a yeast infection. The only irritation is right at the top, in one spot, and no discharge. Good guess though!

I'll preface this by letting you know I'm not a medical expert, but it sounds like it could be bacterial vaginosis. It's not a yeast infection, but a hormonal imbalance. Sometimes it can cause fissures or tears. It becomes more common during pregnancy. Maybe bring it up to your OB during your next visit. If it is the issue, you will definitely want to be treated for it.
Thank you. I have an OB appt. on Monday, and will definetely be asking about it.

  • I second the epsom salt bath
  • My vag also is having sympathy pains. The word tear and vagina are not (yet) compatible in my fragile FTM mind! Hope you get some relief, girl!

I have pretty close the same thing it sound like (minus an actual tear) and my OB said yeah it's an external yeast infection. She said it can happen externally without all the other icky stuff because of all the swelling and is common in pregnancy.
