Has anyone actually used padsicles? I keep seeing DIY instructions, but they're from moms making them for the first time.Trying to decide if it's worth the time and freezer space.
The lady who ran my birth class said she has lots of moms that like them. My own mom looked whist fully off in the distance and said "that would have been wonderful" when I told her about them.
At the hospital I go to they use "ice diapers" They take a newborn diaper and put ice in the pocket in the diaper. When I heard about this I thought they were crazy - yeah, I was constantly asking my nurse for another ice diaper. It was like heaven.

Our hospital gave these out. They are mammoth pads that you 'pop' to make them cold. They felt glorious after giving birth. I have two left from DS and I think they may feel good now too. Hmmmmm.
Mine are already in the freezer! I lived with ice between my legs for 2 weeks last time so anything that might help speed up healing and give some relief I am all for! DH was a little confused but he knows how crazy PP recovery was for me last and supports anything that might help. Also my nurse taught me how to make pad sundaes those things felt amazing! You open the pad, lay 3 or 4 tucks wipes out on the pad, spray them with dermaplast, and then put 3 squirts of epifoam on the tucks wipes.
I had a few issues with the tucks sticking to my stiches so I am hoping the Padsicles will eliminate the need for tucks since the pad is already soaked in witch hazel.
My hospital gives out those ones pictured and they are pretty amazing. I've always grabbed a couple extra when leaving but I don't think I've ever needed to use one after coming home from the hospital. (Although with my first I feel like I lived on the sitz-bath for the first few days.)

I have tucks pads, but no clue where to buy the stuff straight. Seeing that I had hemorrhoids last time and they've already shown up, I'm preparing for the worst.
they were such a lifesaver with my first! i stole so many from the hospital before coming home. i think i only used them for 2 or 3 days after i got home though.
As I'm thinking about it more, after delivery the post partum nurse gives me a huge clear bag that had a ton of those icy pads in it, a tub of witch hazel rounds (like tucks), a can of dermaplast, a tube of hydrocortizone, peri bottle, mesh panties and HUGE pads--not thick--but HUGE and a sitz bath.
She told me to crack the icy pad and shake it up, then put it on the huge pad, then put that in the lovely mesh panties. Then I was to line the witch hazel pads all down the top of the icy pad, then put hydrocortizone on top if I had any hemmoroids. So I'd go to the bathroom, use the peri bottle to clean off, shoot the dermaplast and then pull up the mesh panties filled with all those goodies.
With my first I needed my husband to help me get the panties pulled up with all that stuff in them the first few times I went to the bathroom.

So, if I'm going the amazon route and purchasing these bad boys, should I still get witch hazel, tucks, or other comfort aids?
The hospital gave me tons of tucks pads, epifoam, and dermaplast so I wouldn't worry about those. I would buy witch hazel though. I read you can put a little in the peri bottles. Another tip I picked up was to use warm water in the peri bottles and to have 2 so once you sit down you don't have to get back up if you need more water.
My hospital used newborn diapers, soaked them in water and froze them. Is that what you meant? Absolute heaven. If this hospital doesn't do it, I'm going to suggest they make me some. Best part, you throw em away when they get warm and get a new one. I had minimal swelling even with all my stitches.

Here is the witch hazel I bought. They have a plain, aloe, and rose. You want to make sure there is no alcohol in it: https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B000S823S6/ref=mp_s_a_1_4?qid=1380908122&sr=8-4&pi=AC_SX110_SY165_QL70
