Late Term and Child Loss

I plan to decorate my baby's grave through the seasons

My baby's grave is just across the freeway from my house in an area called "Babyland", so I can see myself visiting him often.  I also noticed that there are graves that have birthday decorations, and I found one that had halloween decorations. It even had a ghost helium balloon!  I wont go as far as placing ghosts and gobblins on Warren's grave, but I love the idea of giving him a Halloween by placing a small pumpkin with cute facial features and some fall flowers along with this cute small scarecrow shelf sitter that we have (or replace it with one that can stand the weather). I even got a little container and some wrapped candies that I plan on placing on the grave tomorrow.

I believe that this will help me cope with not having Warren with us during one of our favorite times of the year. Even though he would have been too young for trick or treating, he would have had on a little costume. LOL

I also look forward to placing little toys for Christmas and eggs for Easter, etc.

Anyway, I just want to know if there are parents here that have decorated their child's grave or even done something like this to involve them in seasons.

  • Lurking Our boys are buried in an infant and children's section. You can tell as you come up on it that's what it is. There are tons and I mean tons of decoration. Cemeteries often have rules about decor (might want to double check) but in our section they seem to throw most of the rules out the window. It has everything from seasonal to birthday to stuffed animals and toys. I planted two small flowers at ours and there is a little cross that says faith.

  • I plan to take a small pumpkin out for our daughter and maybe a fall flower arrangement.  Our cemetery also has rules, but they don't seem to apply in the baby garden.  The only thing that has ever been taken was a balloon my dad left there, and it was gone the next day.  But other than that we have a small solar light with a cross and praying hands inside, a teddy bear and a couple of spinners at her grave.  I'm so glad they respect that we need to have things at their grave, and don't have the strict rules like in other areas.

  • Ticker warning....

We decorate Annabelle's grave often, and because we have 3 living children, we let them help with most of it.  We plant flowers, bring seasonal decorations, and pictures/notes.  Annabelle is buried in an old cemetary with very few rules (I actually can't think of any rules) and I am glad that we are able to celebrate by bringing things to her.
