When will my milk dry up

So I haven't pumped since Monday night. I get a random boob ache every now and then but no engorgement or leaking. So how do I know when I am dry? When can I start wearing normal bras again? I really need new bras and want to get fitted to see what my post-pregnancy, post-nursingforayear boobs will be.

I haven't nursed since 9/6, no real issues pumped a couple times to relieve some pressure. Last night I gave it a little squeeze to see if anything came out. Sure enough, it wasn't a lot but there was milk. :-S

K, I'm not help, but I have to share my random experience relating to me. I nursed DD for 2 1/2 weeks and then went to formula. I leaked until she was at least a year old. Enough that if I wasn't wearing a bra it soaked through my shirt. All my pajamas showed leaking.

I didn't nurse DS at all and I'm still leaking. Any shirt worn without a bra I leak through. That my friends is super annoying.

That is your boobs way of telling you you should forever be nursing! {I kid, I kid} That sucks and I am sorry you have to deal with that.

Ha! Thanks, it's not a huge deal, but kind of annoying when I want to be sexy for DH and wear a camisol with nothing under it and then I have two wet spots on my chest (annoying since I never nursed and we're a year out)!! It's so weird because I had a difficult time getting my milk to come in for DD.

You can try a dose or two of sudafed to dry up - btw - and there are some other natural / un natural options too that I can't recall - but OP I think you are really asking when will you level of size wise and be able to invest in new bras.

I stopped nursing completely by August 14th - I've lost 7 pounds and my bra size is still roughly the same (I do think I'm fully "dry" now) I moved to regular bras once I wasn't pumping / nursing - but I too am waiting to level off before truely investing in decent bras.. and since I'm still drop weight (hoping to drop another 14 pounds before I'm preggos again - or more) - I'm still waiting... sigh

The last time I nursed was September 13th. I haven't had and engorgement or soreness. I just tested it out and squeezed and sure enough there is a little milk in there.

I had the same question sort of. My last nursing session was sept 14th and I still have a bit if you squeeze. I was so surprised by that. I do believe that the size will not reduce anymore, so I'd by some bras at this point if I was you.

I still had some for about a year after nursing DS. My actual bra size leveled out about 1 month after I stopped nursing.

At the end of breastfeeding, I was EPing and went from pumping 4x (for a couple months) to 3x (for a month) to 2x ( for a couple weeks) per day. I finally stopped when I was only producing 2 ounces each session so my body was naturally drying up. When I officially stopped pumping, my boobs definitely got smaller (even smaller than pre-preg) and they didn't have milk. It took about a week after quitting the pump for them to go all the way down. I'm sure I could have squeezed and got some milk but it would only come out if I squeezed my boob.

I stopped nursing Nola for 6 days and I didn't dry up at all. I kept feeling full and it was starting to get hard. I was afraid getting plugged ducts or mastitis so I just started nursing her again I the mornings only. The LC told me I would dry up during pregnancy so I'm just going to keep going until then.

All that said, I have no idea how long it takes to dry up! The LC said if the milk is still there, use it!

I would love to. My kid won't take the boob anymore. She is stubborn!

Sorry such a late response but I would definitely wait a few weeks. I think it was a good month or so before they leveled off to their normal non-nursing size.

I was going to reply the exact same thing. I weaned over the course of July-September, with my last nursing session four weeks ago. I think my boobs have finally gotten back to almost normal (though they're still *slightly* bigger than they were before. Maybe a half cup-size). I'm waiting till after my next cycle to get them re-fitted, just in case. GL!

I never had much of supply and weaned DS at 6 months. Milk was gone completely within 3 weeks. No surprise since my supply was shit anyway.

I waited about a month after stopping, my boobs finally went back to pre prego feeling.. I remember a friend having to sell the bras that she bought right after quitting nursing because she shrank down a bit..
