Babies: 3 - 6 Months

Return of Aunt Flo. Ugh.

I EBF my almost-4-month-old. (He'll be 4 months on the 6th). He's been weaned overnight for about a month. Aunt Flo returned yesterday, SUPER heavy. I mean, postpartum bleeding heavy. This is my first baby. Is this normal for the first period after pregnancy? I hoped it would take longer to return, but no. Ugh. At least I'm not pregnant again though!! Ha.

**siggy warning**

  • I FF, but yep- that first period was awful. Mine lasted for 2 weeks and was probably worse than my bleeding right after delivery. And the second period was a week late, which is normal, too.

  • Haven't had mine yet but I had the paraguard placed at 8 weeks PP. Does anyone know what your first period is like with that?
  • Yes! I ebf also and mine was very bloody coming back. It got better each time.

    New Mommy!!!

  • Very normal & it will take a few cycles to calm down. My first PP soaked thru a ton of layers, I thought I'd need to have a blood transfusion. It was really bad
  • I also EBF and was shocked when AF showed up exactly 3 months after delivery. It was definitely heavier and with more clots than pre-preg. My LO turned 4 months yesterday and I got AF again today, but I can already tell it's not as heavy as last month. I thought BFing was supposed to keep AF away for a lot longer than 3 months! Bummer!

  • Mine came back at 12 weeks. They say once your baby starts sleeping more and your body stops making prolactin, your period is most likely going to return. It is very common for it to come early these days
