Moms of early risers - I figured it out!

So I knew it was a bit early to try, but we decided to use a nightlight on a times to signal DD that it was "ok" to wake up. It worked after ONE morning of me going in and telling her "the birdie is still sleeping, time to go nite nite". She used to wake up crying starting at 4:30 (poor kid din't know if it wsa time to wake up yet) and now she wakes up happily chatting either with, or up to 30 minutes AFTER her light comes on. For us it worked like a charm! We started setting it for 5:45 and now it is at 6. So nice to start the day with a happy and well rested kid.

  • Wow, that sounds awesome. What kind of night light is it?

  • Just a little bird from PB kids. We had to dig a bit on Amazon to find a timer that would mount something on the front (as opposed to the side), but we found one for $10. Or you could certainly try one of those "wake up" clocks they sell that can be programmed to light up (or whatever) at a specified time. The point is that they have a signal that it's wake up time, so they stop waking up every 10 minutes wondering if it's time to play yet...

  • Sweet! I love it, now all I need to do is figure out how to get my kid to stop running long enough to learn a word or two  so I can explain it to him!  I think I'll put one up now though so its in place when he's ready and maybe he'll get it over time. He's young yet but I like the idea

  • That is a good idea.  I think I am going to check it out.
