Bikram/hot yoga

And mommas here practice bikram or any other hot yoga? Have you been to a class since having LO? Do you BF and did you have any milk issues during your class?

I have 8 classes on my membership I would like to use before I return to work in nov. I'm a little concerned about milk let down! It's so hot in there I imagine it could turn into a waterfall!

Re: Bikram/hot yoga

  • LOL no one would notice!  It would just look like sweat  ;)

Yes, by the end it would all just look like sweat. I have a strong let down so it may drown me in the first couple minutes though.
I will wear breast pads but they may not do their job entirely. Ive yet to find a brand large enough to provide good coverage for my monumental boobs. Going through the poses I'm sure my nips will shift around...oh the joys of motherhood.
In the end milk let down won't keep me from going...just wondering if anyone else had gone and what their experience was.

    Edit: words

I've heard of people using menstrual pads as breast pads... They provide bigger coverage. Maybe try that.

  • I'm not BF'ing, but I'm going to my first class post-pregnancy tonight. I'm just so exited I wanted to chime in, haha! Also, I am GUARENTEED to fall asleep during savasana :)

Have fun! I can't wait to start. I'm sooo out of shape from pregnancy I have no doubt I'll just be sitting on the mat through some poses until I can get used to the heat again.

This! I've done it, I cut them to fit my bra. Worked really well.. I wasn't doing hot yoga at the same time though. I find the stickiness is better from them as well. Breast pads always move on me

Thanks! And, oh, me too. I'm guzzling water to hydrate and "prepare," but it'll be a doozie either way.
  • I've been to one at 4 weeks pp. I nursed one side and pumped the other 1. So DS can have a bottle if needed 2. So I can be somewhat "empty." I used overnight bamboobies for breastpads and saw no problems. Hope you enjoy your practice. Namaste!

  • I haven't got the ok by my doc to start again but I am so excited. Don't forget to drink extra water if you are breast feeding. You'll prob feel even more dehydrated.
