Anyone still waiting on solids?

Ds isn't 6 months until the 21st and he also can't sit unsupported yet. Anyone else in my boat?

Re: Anyone still waiting on solids?

  • Yup. DS is 6 months on the 23rd and can only sit unsupported for minute or two at a time. We'll be waiting at least until he hits that 6 month mark.

  • No solids for my DD either.

  • I'm still waiting to try out solids. I'm excited to see him try them, but not excited for all the extra crap I'm gonna have to drag around soon. He will be 6 months on the 13th, and can sit on his own for a little bit, but I wouldn't trust him around hard floors yet with his sitting skills. ;)

  • It was tough but I waited until 6 months...which happened this past Sunday. She seemed ready before but I wanted to wait based on current recommendations.

  • I still do not feed him daily even though he has been eating solids for two weeks now. He seems interested one day, not the next, which is okay by me.

  • We are waiting until 6 months (which will be on the 13th).... She is showing all the signs of interest and can sit up for a very short amount of time. But she is allergic to something I am eating & we have to figure that out before introducing something new :( so it might be a while :( ) but it will be slow and steady when it does happen

  • We waited until he was over 6.5 months. We were in no rush

  • Same here! DS will be six months on the 17th. I am dying to start but holding off until then. We plan to do BLW.

  • The girls can't sit on their own yet, but I've introduced solids (oatmeal and some purees).  One does better than the other.  But we've just been doing it here nd there, nothing too regular.  They will be 6 months on Saturday.  Daycare is going to start feeding them some veggies and oatmeal now too, so we should get better with extra practice now.  They are definitely interested in food and follow it when they see us eating.

TTC since May 2006. After 3 failed Clomid cycles, 2 failed Injectibles/IUIs, 2 failed IVFs and 1 failed FET, we moved on to adoption!

  • We introduced oatmeal cereal around 5.5 months since she was showing all of the readiness signs. Since then we've been doing a few purees like green beans, carrots, sweet potatoes, and bananas since I had one around the house that I mashed up. I haven't fed them to her every day but we've at least tried them a little. Her 6 month check up is tomorrow so I'll still get information from her pedi about how to further proceed.

  • M is 6 months on the 16th.  We'll start mostly BLW then.

Daddy shared a piece of his banana with him this AM...so we're not being too stringent about it

  • DD will be 6 months on the 13th. She can sit unassisted but we're in no hurry. We'll do BLW (gasp!) at some point after 6 months.

  • No solids here yet either. He will be 6 months on the 19th, just now is starting to sit up unassisted.
  • Yes. Dd Will be 6 months on the 23rd and I'm not in a hurry. I'm a little sad about it actually.
  • I started but I don't know if he is ready.  He is soooo attached to my boob, I don't know if he will openly take solids or if it will be a struggle.

  • Phee is sitting up, crawling and pulling up (you can tell she has older siblings) but she isn't 6 months until the 9th. We tried avocado a week ago and she made the most terrifying gagging sounds. I know that's normal, but it freaked me out. H is going to be point person on foods. I nurse, he'll feed everything else. It gives him his own area of emphasis and I get to sit back and relax.

  • Exactly the same. No solids, can't sit unsupported, 6 months on the 21. I want her to eat solids and she seems interested but it's so much more work
  • Ditto on 6 mo.  there was an article a few months ago in the NY Times on how people start solids too early and my pediatrician reinforced this again at our 4 mo. appointment. She said to wait til 6 mo. or as close as possible. And just practically, I can't understand why anyone ever wants to start sooner than that- it's just more work!! :)
  • Haven't started yet. DS is 6 months on Tues and has his appt so we'll discuss with his pedi at that time. He doesn't yet sit up on his own so he's probably not ready.

  • I wanted to wait till 6 months but my LO literally grabs food out of my mouth and can sit unsupported for a few minutes. And he sits perfectly fine when there is a boppy pillow around him. So, I decided to go ahead and start with avocado next weekend.
