JJ13

Hi!  I hope you don't mind me calling you out LOL  You were one of the lovely ladies to give me advice last week or so about my LO having trouble sleeping.

We have finally (at 8 months) moved her out of the rock n play and into her crib.  The first night in the crib was okay.  She slept from 8:30 to 11:00 when we went to bed, only waking once.  Then she woke up (as usual) when we went to bed and we bedshared the rest of the night.  I am fine with this for now.  The past few nights she has woken every half hour or so after we put her in the crib.  I have taken to getting into the crib with her LOL to nurse her back to sleep and then sneaking out.  It seemed easier than trying to move her into the crib once she was asleep.  So anyways,  I think we have progress...........maybe.........

My question is for her naps:  both grandmas that watch her during the day hold her or lay her next to them on the couch for naps.  My hubby tried to get her to nap in her crib today but it was a no go so he just laid on our bed next to her while she naps.  Do you think we need to be napping her in her crib? or at least napping her in a consistent place.  I am worried about this.

Also, what is the name of the book (sleep lady shuffle I think you called it??)  I want to get it.  Thanks!

  • Sorry - just saw this. I'm only on during the day. Naps are hard and every baby is different. For our LO, once we got her putting herself to sleep in her crib, the naps started to come together. Before that, her naps were 25 minutes and I would have to rock/nurse her for a long time to get her to even get that 25 minutes.

I only know what I've dealt with, sleep-wise... I'm not an expert but I do have a difficult little sleeper.

The book covers nap training and we did do it at first - we did it along with the night training all at the same time. We took two days off work and devoted Thursday - Sunday to our LO's sleep. It was awesome (not). But, it paid off. Her naps are better as is her night sleep.

As I think I mentioned in my original post, we modified it - I never leave her to cry more than a couple of minutes (basically how long it takes me to wake up, get my slippers on, and go to her), but I can put her down drowsy now and she'll go to sleep. IT makes naps easier (she's at an in-home small daycare) both at home and at daycare, and it makes night wake ups easier because I can feed her and lay her back down without having to worry about "the transfer." LOL.

All that said it was a process. Definitely read the book, modify as you want (or don't - whatever suits your parenting style) and then be consistent for at least a couple of weeks to see how she adjusts.

I love that you get in her crib. THat is hilarious.

    Good luck!

  • Thanks so much!!!!!
