How do I teach my baby to go to sleep on his own? He has done it a few times, how do I get it to be somewhat constant? and when will this waking every 2 hours end???? (he is 5 months). I really do not want to CIO because he will full on purple cry.

    I nurse him to sleep everynight. DS eats every 2 hours throughout the day, even during his 3 hr nap in the afternoon. He's EBF. He's 20 lbs and doubled his birth weight in 2 months. he's eating enough.

    We have found for our DS that if we feed and burp him, then rock him to sleep until he is drowsy. He will wake up slightly after placing him in the crib, but has learned to soothe himself. The hardest part was letting him fuss for a few minutes. We never let him CIO, but fussing and talking for up to 5 min before we went back in there. Also, with our guy, we never picked him up unless he was crying badly--we would pat his chest lightly until he calmed down. It took a few nights but at 12 weeks, he is sleeping for 7-8 hours/night.
