So my dentist wants to give me x-rays to see if I need a root canal..
She said the can double or triple shield my belly but does that really make it ok to get xrayed?

Should I just try to deal with the pain till after december?

Re: Root Canal

  • You absolutely cannot let a root canal go until December, it could abscess and I assure you that is not good for baby either. Get the xray. It will not harm baby. I had one done at 8 weeks out of pure necessity and baby is doing just fine.

Yea don't listen to google, there are some uneducated opinions there. You can always get the ok from your OB/midwife if it will help you feel better.

    Words of wisdom right there.
  • I let a root canal go far longer than I should have, and it was one of the most miserable expierences of my life (infection on top of infection). Double check with your OB but dot ignore that if you can help it.
  • Sorry you need a root canal that is terrible :(
  • Thanks ladies i hate the dentist so its completely my fault ai only go when something hurts...

I've had to work with x ray several times during my pregnancy which really freaked me out at first, so I've done tons of research. (Beyond Google... real studies about it.) Proper lead shielding will give you all the protection you need. Get your tooth taken care of, that is super important.

Talk to your OB, too. I'm sure they will say it's fine.

ETA: I just saw that you did it. Hope you are feeling alright!
