I agree to not wanting to welcome newbies, but the whole voting thing totally turned me off.  It's insane considering that they were not choosy when they originally started the FB group, so why be choosy now?  It just feels like the FB group thinks they are elite.  I will stay here with all the regs and not risk them rejecting me.
    :))

I don't think the fb group is being elitist. Just wanting the additions of people to not get out of hand and to be as democratic about the whole thing as possible. We've become really accustomed to each other and like most of you, don't want drive bys. Obviously you are all regs so I'm voting to let you guys in but if you had the ability to not have drive bys wouldn't you choose it?
So adding to the 130 people that are already there that I can guarantee don't post much on either site isn't out of hand...

This exact point was brought up to say that there are already lots of people in the fb group so why add more? There are way more people in the TB group and as per previous posts this may add to the lack of cohesiveness.

  • @coraggiosa I think the point is who gets to determine who gets invited. Who determines or what is the criteria for determining drive bys vs regs? Just because I happen to recognize you guys doesn't mean that I should make the decision for everyone and invite you guys. I'm not even an admin on the fb site anyway.

@OliveMom3 - it seems like you are very defensive about the whole FB group issue.  I can respect your support for the group, but can you seriously see the whole voting thing as a good thing?  It's stupid and has clearly deterred people from wanting to join - so I guess the FB group got what they wanted.  FWIW I think it is stupid to put standards on something now that welcomed any one who wanted to join just a few months ago.

  • I'm confused by the comments about "anyone" being able to join when it was first started... I asked months ago to be added and was told no because I wasn't "regular enough." I didn't post on here as often as I do now, but I wasn't a newbie. So if there are people on there who don't even post here, that kind of pisses me off.

And I'm with PP who asked about getting drive bys on the FB group. Don't you have to extend an invite? So... just don't to the people who aren't regs? I didn't see any newbies/drivebys expressing any interest in joining in the other thread, and why would they?

Yes! I'm totally defensive about the fb group. I think that they shouldn't be called out for putting it to a vote. So sue me! I defended you to them by saying you should be included just as I defended them to you in their right to put it to a vote.

@happybride276 correct me if I'm wrong but I think their dislike for the whole voting situation is that out if 130 people in that group you have a handful that post. You opened it up in the beginning to everyone and their extended family and now only have maybe 30 that post on a regular basis.

You have good regs that are chill for the most part saying "hey! I want to get to know you all better" but their being shut out.

Jocelyn, did you vote? Why not vouch for your fellow regs to try to get them in? At least for those that still want in.

Woah Maybe you should chill out. I wasn't attacking you, I was just making a statement. I just don't see why you feel so defensive about it. I do give you credit for trying to come up with a resolution and taking to whoever the admins are in the FB group. It seems sad that the admins aren't coming into these posts and standing up for their group. I feel like its kind f their duty to do so.

They should probably clean out the FB group. It sounds like that is a bigger problem than adding people who regularly post here and show interest in communicating more. Hey, what do I know? :)

I'm totally chill :) just defending my peops! On TB and FB. I didn't feel attacked. The so sue me comment was obviously in jest. No panties in knots here :) a few members have come to see what's been posted here and have been turned off by people backing out because if the vote.

Meaning? They don't want to let anyone new join because some people are upset about the vote? What exactly do they have to be "turned off" about? Hmm.  :-?

  • This whole FB voting thing just seems really immature. It reminds me of those clubs I'd start with my friends in elementary school.

Just that's its affirmation that TB has more drama than our current drama free FB group.

Let's be real, om, some people on the fb group feel that drama is being started if someone disagrees or questions someone. It's happened in the past.

I agree that sometimes drama is blown out of proportion when it's really just a difference of opinion but we just got a "fuck the Facebook group" so I doubt that any people from TB will be added now. If that's not drama, I'm not sure what is.
  • Caused by people not in the Facebook group.
  • No causes by the ridiculous reaction by TBers to a democratic process among a group of people on FB.

I'm not going to lie, I like seeing the drama on here but I also like that I have a safe place to not be scared to ask questions or share silly daily events.

A democratic process? To exclude people? That's rich. Good thing I've never given a fuck about joining the Facebook group. They sound like a clique in elementary school.

  • I didn't want to join the FB group because in my past experience with birth month FB groups (or any group of women really), the shit hits the fan at some point and I don't have time to get caught up in petty drama. Plus, I'm fine with the anonymity of TB. Whatever I want to know about strangers on the internet I can find out here :)
