Multiples

Hello!

Hi,

Just wanted to intro before I start randomly posting questions.  I've been lurking for a little bit.

I am 16 weeks today carrying twins.  So far the pregnancy has been running smooth, though I did have some complications (but nothing major) in the early 1st Tri.

We have been trying for years and have unfortunately lost a few pregnancies, so we are really excited and happy to make it this far.  I am finally starting to feel a little more confident that we are here for the duration.  Right now, we are just focusing on healthy pregnancy and praying they stay in there and the longer the better.

I have lots of questions about twins, like what gear is NEED vs Nice to have, but not necessary.  Sleep arrangements, 1 crib or 2.  Stroller recommendations etc.  I'm holding off on those until we have done a little research and I can ask intelligent questions.

Just wanted to intro and say hello!

P

  • Welcome to the board! The ladies here are super helpful im sure they can help answer all your questions you may have. A few of the ones you have above look back threw the posts (may require some digging and going back a bit) and most have been asked a few times if that helps any :) It is overwhelming with all the information. I like hearing what everyone here has to say since they have first hand experience :) Congrats on the pregnancy and making it this far too :)

  • Congratulations and welcome!! I am 24 weeks today! 16 - 24 went super fast :)

I am in the middle of this research as well. Here are my quick answers:

We are doing 1 room (we live in a two bedroom house), 2 cribs (you will need 2 when they start to move anyway, might as well start out that way!)
Contours Optima Tandem - can be used with two infant car seats and grows with the kids for a few years. https://www.kolcraft.com/baby-products/contours-optima-tandem-stroller.html Also wont pinch baby fingers in doorways like a side by side.

Welcome! Congrats on your pregnancy after such a difficult road. We took a while to get here, too , and I still worry, but I'm getting more confident every day. I love your  minions high 5 - that is what my DH and I feel like, too!

I'm a little bit behind you and just starting to research, too. So far we have decided on one room, two cribs for sure. The rest we'll figure out at some point :) Glad you're here!

  • Hello and congrats on your pregnancy! My girls will be our first children so I can't tell you for sure what is necessary vs nice, but I can tell you what we have decided so far. They will share a room, and they will each have their own crib. They need to be in separate cribs anyway once they start moving (for safety and so they don't wake each other) so we thought it would be easiest to start off that way. We have the Graco snugride classic connect 30 carseats, and the graco duo glider stroller. The stroller accommodates the carseats and will grow with them as toddlers. We may get a more lightweight jogging type stroller also at some point, but we are waiting on that for now.
TTC since June, 2011 with anovulatory PCOS, 1 blocked tube, and mild MFI
    3rd cycles clomid + Ovidrel = BFN
    4th cycles letrozole/Ovidrel + IUI = BFN
    IVF #1 = BFP! Twins due 2/5/2014

  • Welcome!! I'm just a few weeks ahead of you at 20 weeks! My twin girls will actually be sharing our master bedroom with us. I have a 3 bedroom house with 2 kids already. We'll start off with one crib and probably a pack n play so it's closer to our bed for breast feeding at night. Then eventually get our second crib when we think it's necessary. We already had a Chicco infant carrier from our last child so we'll just buy one more Chicco car seat. The stroller I'm absolutely in love with is the double city select. Any infant carrier is adaptable to it and it's not as bulky and hard to push around like most double strollers are. Good luck and congrats on you twins!!
