Weird ideas to help with sleep

Ok. Open your mind for me with these: the other day I noticed DD slept better when she was sleeping next to me. Duh. I thought, what if we slept with one of her blankets (read bed sheet or whatever. Something that is in her bed every night) in our bed for a night or two, then put it in her crib to see if she sleeps better. The object would smell like us, and she might think we are closer than we really are and sleep better. I don't have any results to report yet, but I will get back to you. #2. What about something lavender scented in the nursery? Lavender is supposed to be calming and help people sleep, so why not put it in her room to see if that helps. I will also report back on that one soon.
What do you think? Any other ideas out there worth trying? We're getting desperate over here.

  • Re #1 there's actually a product that does this -- I think it's called a Kuski or something???

Re #2 - I love lavendar and I actually have some really nice lavender body lotion that I keep in LO's room and I rub it on my arms before I feed him at night...it relaxes me, at least. :-)

  • DS likes to hold my finger while he sleeps, I guess because it's warm. I put gloves on his hands the other night & he slept so well.

  • Here is me thinking I was so clever. Ha! Is going to have to look into one of these dolls. Do you think they work @JSS1002 & @Debbie0580?

Yes! DD likes to do this, too!

I get the idea behind it, it makes sense, but we got ours for DS when he was almost a year so I don't think it really served the same purpose if you know what I mean.

  • I had a little rag-type bunny doll someone gave me so I wore it in my clothes for a while and then put it in his crib. It did seem to help somewhat. I try and "recharge" it every two weeks or so. Now that he's teething he also enjoys chewing on it.

  • Hmmm..maybe I need to do this too.  M sleeps wonderfully next to me all night, even when his arms are waving about crazily, he rubs his face, kicks his legs...and stays asleep.  In the pnp, though, he always wakes up.

    Thanks for the idea!

  • I'm having this issue too. I'm going to try the blanket idea. Please update if you find something else out that works!
