2.) How many kids do you have? (Step and/or Bio)

3.) Favorite book?

We've rescued all of our dogs, and the two most recent were four and two years old, respectively.  They were both fully house trained.  It was sooo wonderful compared to the two puppies we had before them.  Good luck!
It might take me a while because I have a DS10 who is allergic to most things furry. He is not allergic to Bichons, Tibetan Terriers or bichon/schnauzer mixes. At least not to the ones we have been around extensively. Poor thing can't even be at a rodeo or circus and just breathing in the dander, he eventually starts wheezing :(  He adores furry things too!

  • 1) Florida

    2) SS12, DD5 and DD11

    3) I don't read very often, the last series I read was 50 Shades- don't think I've met a woman who didn't like those...lol!

    4) I am a planner and have a very hard time being spontaneous, kinda sucks sometimes :/

  • 1.) Where are you from? If you don't want to say a state, just east coast, west coast or Midwest is fine. very rural Wisconsin

2.) How many kids do you have? (Step and/or Bio) 3, ds21, dd18 and dd15, dh and I are currently trying for one together

3.) Favorite book? couldn't possibly choose one, probably something by Stephen King. I'm reading his new one now and it's pretty good

4.) Random fact We are the crazy bird family here. We have 2 cockatiels and 8 parakeets, all tame, and they have the run of the house during the daytime. 4 of the parakeets are the "babies" of two of the others. They're all light blue, and everybody thinks it's crazy that we can tell them apart.

  • 1.) San Francisco Bay Area

2.) SO has two boys, 9 and 7, I have a DS who is four, and we have one on the way together

3.) Way too hard to pick one favorite book! I, like most humans, loved Harry Potter. I haaaaaaaated Twilight. Infer from that what you will.

4.) I have a master's degree in Irish history, but work in technology.

    1.) Midwest.
2.) 2, one from each of us (one on the way)
3.) Dune, maybe the Tamir Trilogy by Lynn Flewelling, Dresden Files, Eragon, no, no Ghost by John Ringo. Please don't make me choose just one...
Why does Outlander sound so familiar?

4.) I think my whole life is random. Um... I think I'm a walking contradiction. I love horseback riding but listen to rock and roll. I am a tech nerd who knows about hardware, software and design but who loves to sew and craft. I enjoy military simulation/tactical games. I've been told I'm very analytical but I spend a great deal of my time immersed in creation. I used to consider myself more androgynous but the longer BH and I are together my more feminine characteristics have become dominant but I still have some traditionally masculine interests.

This is our eldest. Benadryl in the purse, the car, everywhere. My sisters lab-blue healer (I think) is ok but only if he's very recently had a bath. We found that huskies cause no reaction. Weird with all that hair I know but they should only be bathed twice a year so very low dander. We were around them at an event for hours, no response but as soon as the husky-golden retriever came around we had immediate sniffles. The drawback is huskies are high energy and need a high fence because they like to roam. Luckily they fit our lifestyle. They might yours too.
  • 1. East Coast Mountains
    2. Two. DS and SS.
    3. Geez, I like to read too. Too many to pick a favorite. I'm big on series so just about anything that has a sequel. :)

    4. I grew up the biggest Tom boy in the world with all boy cousins and all brothers but now if you first met me you'd never believe it. I have an unhealthy addiction to shopping. Have more shoes, scarves, belts & jewelry than I would or could ever wear. My husband constantly thinks I've been shopping recently because he hasn't seen some of the items in so long. Not really random, most women are probably like that, but it's nothing something you'd know by my posts here. Lol
  • 1) East Coast
    2) 2 kids, DS(almost 5) & DD(9 months)
    3) Harry Potter series
    4) DH & I unknowingly lived in 3 different cities in 2 different states at the same time growing up.

  • 1.) Where are you from? If you don't want to say a state, just east coast, west coast or Midwest is fine.
    - Originally, I'm from Memphis, TN. Now I live in rural northwestern TN. City life never suited me.

2.) How many kids do you have?
    - SD7yo and DS3yo (4 in December)

    3.) Favorite book?
    - I couldn't possibly pick. I love to read, and it kills me that I just hardly have the time to anymore. If I have to pick, I'd say it would be the "Silver Wolf" trilogy by Alice Borchardt.

    4.) Random fact.
    - I love animals. As in I would rather spend my days with animals than people. People get on my nerves and make me somewhat nervous. Animals make me feel perfectly at ease and comfortable.

And in relation to the conversation about pet allergies ... each animal has different dander. While dog breeds that shed less are usually easier on people who suffer from allergies, don't automatically assume that dogs of that breed will all be allergy friendly.

I am allergic to cats, but I have two and I work with them all day long. Some cats for up my allergies, while others don't bother me at all.

I hope you find a dog suited to your kids. Good luck.
  • 1.) Where are you from?

    - Goodness, I don't know. I love to read.

    4.) Random fact
    - I used to keep and breed chameleons, specifically Panther Chameleons.

  • I'm from Maine. Born and raised in rural northern Maine, now I live in a more populated area in central Maine. I love my state. I moved to a few different places after HS but always settled back here.

    I have a 3yo DD and a 6yo DS

I don't think I have a favorite book. I love to read but I haven't read much lately, and what I have read has been easy reading crap like 50 shades.

Random fact. I have a spondelolythesis. Its entirely possible I spelled that wrong but I'm too lazy to Google the correct spelling. Its a spinal condition that caused me to have to wear a hideous back brace in middle school.
  • 1) Midwest
    2) 1 SS, 1 DS
    3) I liked the Good Book. I don't think I've read a book since grad school to be honest
    4) My husband and I met at a bar (on a Monday) he wasn't living in the area just visiting family and I NEVER go out unless it was a weekend but I was celebrating my new roommate moving in. In talking we found out his cousin was my new roommate and he had been visiting her but she had left the bar to pick up her friend before he walked in so we wouldn't have made the connection.:, My husband always says "we made eye contact" which gave him the courage to approach me. If we hadnt we never would have met. He left later that week to go back home (military)

Over if the veterinarians I work with had that as a child, also. She had back surgery and more has a metal rod in her lower back. I think she said she also wore a brace for a while.

I opted out of surgery, I sought a few different opinions and most of them told me it was a 50/50 chance that it would significantly help me. I didn't want to go through all that for a 50/50 chance. I have had regular chiropractic care since I was young and it has significantly helped with pain. Even as a hair stylist who spends hours on my feet at a time I am able to control it from getting bad most of the time. I only wore the brace at home and only for a few weeks. I was supposed to wear it all the time for years but I refused as I was in middle school and I was afraid my friends would make fun of me. Its a shame because it probably would have helped.

    4. I used to fake sick to get out of school ALL the time. I think I missed like 60 days of 4th or 5th grade. (For anyone whose kids do this now, I did grow up fine. I was a straight A student in college and hardly ever missed work.)

I love to read and always have - I like thriller, witches/vampires, horror, beach books.  So I love Anne Rice, Stephen King, Dean Koontz, Janet Evanovich, Tom Clancy (RIP), and so many more.  I am reading the ghostwalker series by Christine Feehan right now.  Has a little more sex than I normally read - but its fun!

    4. I have been to 48 of the 50 states.  My favorite is Arizona!

With a crazy past 7 - 8 years i havent read much lately so I will go back to a favorite classic: To Kill A Mockingbird.

2.) How many kids do you have? (Step and/or Bio) 5 kids (2 bio, 3 step)

3.) Favorite book? I can't decide. I mostly listen to books while I'm working. I've been listening to a lot of books by Jodi Picoult, Nicholas Sparks. I'm about to run out of those, but I love Audible because they have a great selection.

4.) Random fact: I'm currently obssessed with Ancestry. I stayed up 2 nights ago and traced my maternal grandfather's side back to England in the 1500s. My 3rd great grandfather was a convicted murderer who was tried at Ft. Smith. Also on that side, I am distantly related to Thomas Jefferson. His grandmother was my 10th great grandmother. I plan on tracing all sides back as far as I can go. I am stuck on one side though because one of my great grandmothers was full Cherokee but adopted so I can only find info on her adoptive family but I want to know more about the Cherokee side. Ok, sorry...nerd alert here....lol

    1.  From the Midwest.

    2. 2 Bio(10, 1) 2 Step(5,4)

    3. With 4 kids, I barely have time to read the paper.  The last book I enjoyed was The Help.

    4. I grew up with 5 brothers, none of them play or like sports.  I love sports, especially hockey and ran CC through college.

3.) Favorite book? Most recently the hunger games.... It's been a while since I had time to read.

4.) Random fact. After giving birth to my dd last year it was discovered that I had gallstones. My gallbladder was removed and the following week I was in a huge amount of pain. (ALMOST worse than labor.) The hospital kept telling me the pain was normal, finally I went to the ER. They found that I had a massive infection and that I was bleeding into my abdomen. Two transfusions and TONS of medical bills later, I am doing great!
  • I love seeing all the book suggestions. I'll definitely be reading a few of them!
