one more BLW question

Sorry if this is a stupid question but I am wondering how do you give your LO yogurt and oatmeal? My DD decided she is not a fan of spoon feeding so we started BLW 3 weeks ago with french fries size veggies and fruits but not sure how to give her yogurt and oatmeal. I gave her a spoon and she tries to eat it and then gets board and dumps it on the floor. I keep trying to show her how I eat my yogurt but she doesn't seem to get it..

Re: one more BLW question

  • I take regular oatmeal and make oatmeal fingers. I just let it set up in a bowl abs slice it abs give to him. For Yogurt I'll either give him a pile of fruit and put some on top or give him a preloaded spoon with it. We're also working on dipping. So Yogurt can be a good dip.

  • ah thanks! I had tried giving her a preloaded spoon several times and she didn't put it in her mouth, it ended up on the floor. She's still learning to work the spoon.
I'll try piling it on top of fruits, I mean it's already very messy, what's a little more mess..that's a good idea, I'll give it a try, thanks!
  • No problem! I expect mess with it. So I'm of the strip down to their diaper and give em a pile to eat camp. I do this with a lot of things. He only gets plain yogurt, so the fruit helps make it sweet. I also bought these little baby cutlery sets that have baby friendly handles. They fit just right into his little hands. Makes it easier for him to figure out.

Do you mind me asking where I can get these? They sound interesting and if it'll help her learn to use the cutlery sets I'm all for it.
  • These are what I bought. I found them at the grocery store.

  • Ooh using yogurt as a dip sounds like fun! Hmm, I only tried giving milos a spoon once but the coordination just seems way off. More frustrating than encouraging to him and me. I'm gonna get him adjusted to finger foods first as well, and try to explain spoons better when what I say is a little more comprehensible to him
